Chara

Sans let out a started cry and dropped the note, clasping his hands over his mouth. His eyes were wide with horror, and he was definitely trembling. Chara didn't know how she felt. She didn't know how to feel. She was mostly worried about Sans. He looked like he was going to faint.

"Sans?" Chara asked in a quiet voice. "Are...you okay?"

"Someone wants to hurt you!" Sans cried. He had a look of true shock on his face. "W-who would want to do that?" He looked like he was on the verge of crying.

"What's going on?" Papyrus's voice from behind made Chara so startled she nearly fell over.

"Someone left a note!" Sans cried, his voice shaking. "Th-they want to hurt Chara!"

"Huh?" Papyrus walked over to them now. "Show me."

Sans picked the note up again and gave it to Papyrus. "H-here."

Papyrus read the note, his eyes narrowing. "Hmm... how strange." He shrugged. "Guess we'll have to keep a close eye on the human."

Sans gasped. "That's all?" He looked distraught. "W-what if..."

Chara took one of Sans's bony hands in her own and squeezed it. "Don't worry. I'm sure everything will be fine. Could just be a prank."

"Yes. I wouldn't stress." Papyrus agreed. "I'll keep a close eye socket on Chara. Don't worry, bro."

"I'll protect her as well!" Sans vowed, putting a fist to his chest. "With the Magnificent Sans and his brother, the human shall be fine!" He blinked and looked at Papyrus. "When did you get home?" He asked.

"A couple of hours ago." Papyrus said. "I heard you two having a good time up in your room, so I figured I wouldn't interrupt." He turned and winked at Chara.

Sans

After the incident with the note, Sans and Chara went back to his bedroom. He was glad that she was taking the note so well because he was more worried than he would ever allow anyone to know. Truthfully, he had more doubts about himself in the situation and all he could think about was the creepy note, which Papyrus had taken to his room.

What if I can't protect her like I want to? Sans wondered, looking at Chara as she lay down in her bed. No. He couldn't think like that. He must be strong enough to protect her. He was the Magnificent Sans after all!

"Are you scared?" He asked Chara.

She looked at him and shook her head with a smile. "Not at all, Sans! I know you'll be here to protect me."

Sans spent the entire next day with Chara, refusing to leave her side unless she needed to use the bathroom. He feared letting her out of his sight in case whoever sent the note came back to keep their promise. He and Chara also cooked tacos together. Alphys had come over for lunch before going out to patrol. When Sans had told her about the note she had been furious but assured him no harm would come to Chara. Chara decided to stay the night again with Sans, which was a relief. He couldn't imagine leaving her alone for an entire night without protection.

Chara

Chara was aware of Sans's inner struggles. Although he hadn't said it out loud, she could tell by his actions that he wanted nothing else other than to protect her from whoever sent the note. She was hardly worried though. But she did feel safer with Sans, and was glad to be staying the night again.

Now the two were sitting on Sans's floor doing a tiny puzzle he had made just for Chara. Although she was trying to solve it herself, Sans kept giving her hints. It was night time already, but Chara and Sans were too awake to care for sleeping, although they had gotten ready for bed hours ago.

"Ha!" Sans said when Chara finished the puzzle. "You're good at that! Told ya you could solve it if you just tried."

Chara giggled. "I only finished it because you helped me, Sans. That puzzle was so well made that I doubt I could have done it alone!"

Sans's cheeks were blue now as he blushed at her words. "Well I am the master of making puzzles!"

Chara looked at Sans lovingly. They had been dating for little over a week but she knew how much he cared for her.  Now she felt completely the same about him. She looked over at his bookshelf and decided she wanted to do something special for him.

"Hey Sans?" Chara asked.

"Yes?" Sans replied.

"Can I read you a book?" She asked him.

"Ooh! Yes, of course!" Sans replied.

Sans

As Chara picked out a book to read to Sans, he quickly scrambled into his bed and pulled his blanket over him. Papyrus used to always read to him, but had stopped in the week that Sans and Chara had started dating. He was ecstatic when he realized that Chara wanted to read to him too!

"How about this book?" Chara asked, pulling a red book off the shelf. To Sans's surprise, it was the book he was borrowing from the library about dating.

"Sure! It's a book about dating! Maybe if we read it together we'll both get more ideas!"

Chara smiled and climbed onto the bed, sitting beside Sans. He smiled, feeling like he was going to burst with joy. She pulled the covers over herself and snuggled closer to him and started to read the book. It was a page about kissing.

"At every point in a relationship," Chara started to read, "a couple will want to express intimacy. Kissing is the most common form to express intimacy."

Sans wondered how he could kiss Chara without lips.

"Kissing usually occurs at the beginning of a relationship. Depending on the person, kissing could start as soon as a relationship starts or sometime after the first few weeks."

Sans listened as Chara read on about kissing, then found himself growing drowsy. Chara looked at him and closed the book when she realized he was on the verge of falling asleep. She cheerfully blew a kiss at him and got up.

"I'm going to put this away now. It looks like we're both tired. Goodnight Sans." Chara said softly as she went to put the book away and went back to her own bed.
