10:15; the first day of school

Ember was waiting outside on the outdoor tables, looking at her schedule. She was in 7th grade, so she knew how the school worked, but she looked at it again to remind herself of the procedure. Science in room 2, 1st period, AVID in room 16, 2nd period, math in room 8, 3rd period. She already got through the first 3 periods and her next period after is-

"Sorry we're late, Ember! The line was long as fuck!" Aries yelled, to Aubrey's disliking.

"Aries, we talked about your language. You're an AVID student now, you need to be a good example." Aubrey lectured Aries as she put the milk into her cereal. "What? They only have breakfast food!" Aubrey said to Ember, who was unintentionally staring.

"You're not my mom, Aubrey," Aries said, exasperated. "Anyways, did we do a schedule swap before school, or did we run out of time? I don't remember." Aries asked.

"We did, and we only have AVID together" Aubrey answered Aries' question.

"Everyone here?"

"Yes."

"Anyways, how's Mr. Vincent?" Ember asked Aubrey.

"It's only been one day and I already can't stand him," Aubrey replied. But before the other 2 girls could make a comment about it, the bell rang, signifying the end of the break.

"Well, anyway, see you after school, guys!" Ember said, with the others replying the same. This was gonna be a long year...

10:15; Aubrey's birthday

"Happy birthday, Aubrey!" Aries said.

"Thank you, but do you remember how Grian had everyone sing happy birthday in AVID, including the teacher?" Aubrey asked.

"Yeah, and?"

"Can you tell him to not do that again? It makes me uncomfortable." Aubrey said.

"Ok? 6 years of being your friend has not prepared me for that question," Aries said, unintentionally saying it out loud.

"Hey there," Scar interrupted before Aubrey could say anything. Ember only had him in science and AVID, and she already knew he was one of those students who liked to sell stuff. Not anything too valuable or illegal, but simple stuff like gum, menstrual products, which is extremely creepy, and other things. Not only that but also had a sidekick, Cub, who was in Ember's AVID and P.E class, so that was fun.

"What do you want? Aries asked suspiciously. From what Ember could tell, Aries already didn't like them. Just then, the bell rang.

"Saved by the bell, huh? Don't worry, I'll get in touch in math class," Scar asked as they walked away. Man, they were annoying.

"Don't worry, guys. Demer's probably gonna make them wish they've never been born. Anyways, see you later, guys," Ember said.
