Getting past the pillars was easy enough as Larry soon found out- Well, it was hard at first as he was unsure of what to do, but he caught on. It started out pretty rough, Larry falling to his knees and bagging for there to be an obvious answer to the puzzle before him. His mind was swirling around, racing at a million miles an hour- he mostly thought about Sal, and how he wished he could've had a proper burial.
So he sat there for a while before he slowly pulled out his sketch book, doodling the symbols that sat idly on the pillar. They began to glow as he drew them, so he continued until the pillar eventually disappeared.
He picked up the pace, drawing each symbol with relative ease, a smile plastered on his face after each pillar disappeared. When he started entering apartments everyone seemed... off. Sal's dad was... different.
He seemed tired, annoyed, and overall just unhappy with life. Larry didn't mention Sal, swallowing his pride and dignity as he explained to Henry that everything was peachy. Then he moved onto his mother's apartment, slowly opening the door and walking inside.
She looked angrier than usual (she's always had a lot of patience), giving Larry one word answered as she glared at him behind heavily hooded eyes.
Having enough, he decided to give MR. Addison a visit to see if he could explain what the hell was going on.
"Johnson?" Terrance questioned from behind his usual mail slot.
"Terrance..." Larry spoke in a low tone.
"No, no this isn't right... where's Sal, he's supposed to be here, you're supposed to be... never mind that, prophesies change I suppose... anyways, this is the part where I'm supposed to invite you inside. But you could go Larry- run, live a normal life. Because it wasn't supposed to be this way- so there's still hope for you." Larry thought for a moment as Terrance spoke before nodding and walking into the elevator.
Normal life;
What is 'normal'?
What's normal to the spider is chaos to the fly..
Stand by Ash and Todd, you can't leave them! You can't leave them behind, they'll be lost! Todd has disappeared, and Ashley isn't in a very good place.
Sal wouldn't leave.
Sal would stay. He would stay for everyone.
But Sal is gone, Sal doesn't control your life anymore... but you couldn't find someone else like him. If you leave behind everyone you've ever known, everyone who's shaped you, are you really you anymore?
Are you whole?
Thoughts swarmed Larry's head, and he wasn't sure where to keep all of them.
Larry came to a rather quick haunt as he looked at an extremely disheveled Todd, whom sat next to the lobby doors.
"Todd?! What the fuck happened to you?!" Larry asked rushing over to the red head.
"I-I don't know. Everything went black, then I woke up strapped to a table. There was a loud noise, and there was a bunch of people standing around me in hoods. They all started chanting, the demon was there... but then there was another flash of light and I was here. I don't think they touched me..." Todd replied, his gaze slightly dazed and cloudy.
"I'm calling Ashley, this ends tonight." Larry questioned, taking his phone from his pocket. He slowly clicked on the contact that read 'Ashley' and called it, waiting from a response. The girl picked up and they had a drawn out conversation, before mutually agreeing that Todd, Ashley, and I should all get the hell out of dodge.
Larry decided he needed to talk to Terrance before anything happened, and so he made his way up to his floor. Then, he began to bang on the door.
"Terrance... I'm leaving, I'm not sure what you were rambling about, but if you want something done? Do it yourself." Larry growled out. Non of them wanted anything from their homes. They wanted to start from scratch, turn over a new leaf. They'd leave without warning, even though it pained Larry so. He would miss Lisa, but hoped their paths would cross again.
It was for the best. Maybe the cult would follow them, and Nockfell would become the happy town Larry hoped it would become. As for high school, fuck it. They know what they need to, they could get bye.
Ashley's biggest regret would probably be not getting to see the baby. Which, turned out to be named 'Soda'. Todd's would be not saying goodbye to his fish... poor little dude. As for Larry? He had no regrets. He buried Sal at the base of the treehouse, he could rest. He could be home.
...
Ten years went by. They hid out for some time, staying on the down low as to not raise suspicion.
Todd decided to go to a university, pursuing a future in physiology.
Ashley went to New York to study to become an artist, an official one at least. What's shed do from there? Only time will tell.
Larry texts Sal's number everyday. Everyday for ten years. He knows he won't answer, but he feels like he's there. Like he's there when no one else is. Larry also kept the ring he had planned on giving his blue haired friend for a while- along with his prosthetic.
That was the hardest to see go. The day he got rid of the ring was the day he accidentally broke Sal's mask, which crushed him and set him free all at once.
Lisa passed before he got to see her again. The Addison apartments were demolished, leaving many residents homeless.
Larry did have one thing he kept, though. A golden cross; and he wore it everyday.
Because he knew somehow it kept him safe.
Somehow...
It felt like home.
