"STOP RIGHT WHERE YOU STAND."

The iar around them was frigid, alarming. Time seemed to stop as both monsters gauged each other. Sans exhaled softly, 'This one is going to be much harder.' He raised his head, determined to win without having to fight. "Pap--" *sound of a soul shattering* He didn't even have time to speak as bones attacked hit him. Sans was turning to dust, and he saw papyrus still standing there, stoic, silent.

He was back at Snowdin's entrance. 'Wait, Ididn't reach the star, did I' "Flowey, did I touch the star?" "...You don't remember? You SAVED when you entered and after talking with Red." Flowey spat the name as if it was a disease. 'I...I don't remember..." Flowey looked concerned. "We should hurry." "Yeah, let's go..." Sans didn't feel at ease. If he was doing things without remembering them, that could become a serious problem.

He walked back to where Papyrus was. There again, Papyrus tried to attack him with the same attack. This time though, Sans dodged it. "Papyrus, please listen! We don't have to fight!! We just want to reach Waterfall!" "AND YOU THINK THAT I WILL LET YOU? AH! PATHETIC!" Bones came from under Sans, killing him once again. "Pa--Pyrus..." "YOU THINK I WILL PASS SUCH AN OPPORTUNITY!? ONLY A FOOL WOULD DO THAT." *Sound of a soul shattering*

Back at Snowdin, once again. Sans thought for a moment, then look up to the "sky". Though they were Underground, the ceiling was enchanted, and so refelected the time of the day outside. Right now, it was dark. "Maybe we could go to the inn and rest for awhile? Not only it would raise my HP, but I will be able to sleep." "What? You're already tired?" "What can I say? Must be my lazyness." "Ugh, fine. Let's do this."

They reached for the inn, where a rabbit lady was sitting at a desk, her chin on her hand. "Hi!" Sans greeted cheerfully. "What do you want?" The rabbit monster asked, boredom lacing with annoyance in her voice. "Well, a room, please?" Sans wasn't deterred by her attitude, he knew that people here -in this whole Underground in fact- were rough around the edges, so some gentleness and recognition might help them. "Here." She gave them the keys of the room -Well more throw them the keys, but anyway- not even looking at them. "Thank you!" Sans smiled again. But as soon as they were in the room, his smile fell.

"Whoa, I never saw someone passing from being the most joyous person to being the most depressed one in just a few seconds." "heh.." Sans plopped down on the bed. "Even though I'm always smiling, I am not the most cheerful person. Quite the opposite, in fact." Sans had a sad smile on his face. "That's...funny. Until the moment I arrived there, I thought that I had a perfect life. But now..." "You're not so sure anymore?" Flowey inquired, "What changed?" "I don't really know. Maybe...Heh... That may sound idiot, but..." Sans stopped a second, trying to find the correct words. "Back then, I was not the character of my story." "...What do you mean?" "That even if I hadn't been there, things wouldn't be different. I promised Tori to protect the kid, but the truth is that I didn't do anything: I didn't have to. The kid was never in danger, they did everything by themselves. Even now, I...I was the only one who didn't go forward: Papyrus and Metatton opened their own restaurant, Asgore and Toriel established a Monster-Human trade Act, Alphys developed a new clean energy and will have a second child with Undyne, who was the first monster to become an instructor for both monsters and humans. Grillby and Muffet are travelling through the whole world, making everyone discover their cooking, Frisk is the ambassador along Asriel, and I...What have I accomplished? Nothing. I'm just the joking monster, brother of the Great Papyrus. That's all."
