I uncovered my eyes and pulled my hands away from my face. I've gotten so scared when I was pulled away from Kara that I couldn't bare what I looked as my face what I thought would be my end.
The capsule jerked back and forth, it shot through space and time at lightning speed. It was like the worlds fastest and most dangerous roller coaster on steroids.
The pod spun to the point where I couldn't tell which way was up, the eerie noises coming from outside that I swore would burst my eardrums from the volume, the flashing lights from Rao knows what.
The ride felt like it was going on for hours, when in reality it could've been only a few minutes. And then the flashing lights stopped and the spinning ceased. I picked between my fingers and saw that the pod was taking a nose dive into the atmosphere of a planet.
The crash was not as bad as it could have been, many trees slowed my pod before hitting the ground.
Once I pulled my hands from my face I tried to look outside but my attention was drawn to the movement outside my pod. I looked down to see it was only my hands, trembling uncontrollably. I looked at the back of my hands and flipped them over so I could look at my palms, almost as a was to reassure myself that I was alive. I clenched one hand into a fist and wrapped my other hand around it, to stop the shaking. Then I glazed up to the glass.
Outside were trees and grass and strange structures. It almost looked like a house.
Mother did tell me stories of how humans were not as advanced in technology, maybe this is their version of a home.
Wait. Is this MY new home!?
I tried to open the glass but it wouldn't budge. All of a sudden I saw a bright light and I jumped away from the window and pressed myself against the other end of the pod. It looked like a....oh What was it that my father showed me?
A tornado with some sort of electricity in it..Only the electricity was red and......wait..is That a man?
Sure enough where the tornado first was, a man stood. A man in a yellow suit and red glowing eyes.
My chest started heaving as fear gripped my heart. The man started to approach my pod..
His face looked rather strange, not like a face at all..It Looked like it was moving.
The man looked inside at me and tilted his head. Almost like he was studying me..
Then his face stopped moving and he revealed himself. Only revealing half of his face because the other half was in the mask.
"It's alright little one. I won't harm you, but I need you to hold still so I could release the door, understand?"
I looked at him, uncertainly. My mother told me not to trust strangers. Only my sister. But Kara was nowhere to be found, and I was out of options..So I nodded my head to say I understood.
The man smirked at me and he raised his hands. It looked like they were still but I swear they were moving.
Then, he put his hands on the glass. The whole pod was rattling which scared me even more, as I squirmed in my seat. Then I heard a clicking noise and the dome slid into the pod.
"There we are little one, Here we go. Come on, up.
"The man urged me to get up, then he placed his hands under my arms to lift me out of the pod. He placed me on the ground outside, and I immediately looked down..
The group was warm and soft, and the Dewy grass tickled my ankles where my tights didn't cover. I took a look in the world around me as if I was looking at it for the first time.
It was the first time, and the man observed that I have never seen this place before..
"You aren't from around here, are you? Where did you come from little one..?"
The man spoke with a half gentle and half stern tone, which made me anxious. I was still in shock from the ordeal I was going through, and couldn't form words..And to answer the man, I looked at him and then pointed to the sky. The baby blue sky and all its glory.
The man chuckled darkly and than picked me up."Don't worry little one, I know just where to take you."
I didn't understand what he meant so I started to scream when he ran. He ran at the speed of lightning.. It was scary but then a few seconds later, I felt calm and started to look at the scenery around me, changing and fading as the stranger ran.
The man stopped outside of a house. A strange metal box with the name "Ramon" on it. He sat me down next to it and keeled down to my level.
"You need to try and blend in little one. There is people that would try and come after you, but this family will make sure you are taken care of. Tell no-one where you come from, and obey these people."
The man was making no sense at all to me, but I still toke his words.
Then he knocked on the door of the house and an older man answered. The stranger and the older man talked for several minutes as I looked at the world around me.
I walked over and sat on the grass by a puddle. Then I looked into the puddle at my reflection. I daydreamed about my family and one of the happiest moments in my life.
It was Kara's 13th birthday, a few weeks before I left Krypton. Kara and I were playing hide and seek with our mother. She an I ran down the hall, hand in hand, then I pulled her behind a wall. We kept giggling and shushing each other when we heard our mothers' footsteps. Kara motioned toward the window, than we tiptoed and hid behind the drapes. We were watching our mother move down the hall, then our father popped out of know where, causing us to shriek. He caught us and threw us over his shoulders. He plopped us on the couch and started tickling Kara and I all over. When we had all settled down, he picked Kara and I up, and took us to the kitchen where sat a purple and pink birthday cake on the table. We sang happy birthday and I smeared icing on Kara's face. She shrieked and laughed with surprise, then grabbed a handful of icing and pushed it into my face. We laughed and smiled the entire rest of the day.
That was probably one of the last days we spent together as a family.
Then I had my accident, followed by loosing my planet, my parents, then my sister..
These realizations replaced the good memories with the painful ones, and caused me to get rather upset. I started to cry and I screamed out in frustration. When I screamed, the sound of thunder rattled the earth.
It confused me, and I wondered what was happening. The sky was a clear, bright blue a few moments ago, and now it was dark above the house that threatened rain. I reached my hand towards the sky wanting to feel the rain on my fingertips, hoping it would wash away my grief. The rain refused to fall, but then the water from the puddle did the strangest thing. It floated droplets towards my fingers until my entire hand was encased in water.
I flipped my hand with my palm facing up, and touched it with my dry hand. It felt just like I was touching a puddle, only it felt like something more. More enriched.
"what is going on!?!?! What are you doing?!?" yelled the stranger.
His voice snapped me out of my daze and the water fell from my hand and the clouds above me dispersed to reveal blue sky once again.
That was when I realized what my mother was saying. The yellow sun....it made me different..
