So, instead of working on my large pile of homework, I have decided to dedicate some time to writing this rant about how Shawn deserves better, in regards to the Grammys.
'Señorita' was nominated for a Grammy!
Now, Shawn is officially a 3x Grammy nominated artist! I'm so proud of him for accomplishing this 💖

This is a huge achievement so you may be asking, "what? Why are you complaining then?"
I'm not complaining. I am fully aware of what getting nominated for a Grammy means and I'm glad that Shawn and Camila get to share this together.
I'm just.. idk, a bit disappointed. 'If I Can't Have You' didn't earn any nominations and though 'Señorita' did get nominated, it was only nominated once.
I feel like in award shows, Shawn is constantly undervalued and honestly, we all know he deserves better. He deserves to be acknowledged more and shouldn't just be known as the 'Stitches' guy. He's more than that.
So much more than that.
People constantly say, "oh, he's just another pop singer." He's not just some pop singer, he's Shawn Mendes.
He's an amazing person. He sings, writes, advocates for various causes, and is one of the kindest and funniest human beings on earth.
I think I'm just having one of those moments where with seeing this nominations, I know that Shawn deserves more. He deserves better.
He has contributed so much to music and to not see all that shown by the Grammy nominations is a bit disappointing.
'Handwritten' and 'Illuminate' were never nominated when we all know that those are pieces of art and okay, I get it if 'Handwritten' wasn't nominated because it may not have been as "mature" as his other albums. Still. Why didn't 'Illuminate' get nominated then?
I'm just glad that other award shows acknowledge his talent and know how much he's contributed to music. He's accomplished so much and if the Grammys can't see that, then too bad for them.
And other people may know him just as the 'Stitches' guy but at least we know that he's so much more than that and that's all that matters.
In the meantime, let's continue celebrating the nominations that he has received and let's continue cheering him on! 💖
