Becoming the Alpha Queen

Chapter 11

Wolves began to spill out of the forest, shifting the moment they stepped out into the clearing. They began to circle us, crouching low to the ground, snarling and baring their teeth. There was the sound of ripping clothes and I realized that Alpha Abhay had shifted again into his pitch black wolf. He stalked toward us, hackles raised, shoulders hunched and head lowered, an evil grin twisted on his wolfs face.

Don't be stupid Abhay, my father spoke through the bond that Alphas shared. Attacking and challenging an Alpha n his own territory is a death wish and you know it.

Abhay's wolf immediately changed his posture. He raised his tail and head high in the air. The fact that he didn't speak through the link worried me; it meant that his wolf had taken over so much that the human side was completely gone. None the less, his actions were enough to be able to decipher what he meant. This is my territory now.

My father let out a low growl and jumped onto Abhay's wolf, the two clashing violently, their snarls echoing loudly.

I stared at them as if in a daze, watching teeth and claws pull apart fur and leave gashes of raw flesh that left puddles of blood splattered all over the stone.

"Sin!" I heard someone call me.

I couldn't move though, i was frozen to my spot, not able to react to anything going on around me.

"Sin!!" the voice was closer now. "Sin!!! SIN!!! CYNTHIA!!!!"

Someone grabbed my arm and twisted it with force. It was like i had been in a dream state and someone woke me up with a bucket of cold water. I gasped as all my senses flooded me: the smell of blood staining the ground i stood on, the sound of the Night Star wolves snapping their teeth as they let their most primal instincts take over, the evil grins that were plastered strangely and contorted their faces.

"Cynthia! Snap out of it!!" Steven was waving his hand wildly in front of my face. I must've had a blank look on my face because he grabbed my shoulders and yelled, "Alpha! What do we do?!?!"

The "Alpha" was finally enough to get me to react completely. I looked for Nyx and Kasei and saw them slowly backing towards us, trying to keep the crazed wolves at bay. One of the wolves, a thick brown coated wolf with cream markings, lunged at my brother, teeth showing and saliva flying all over the place.

Nyx let out a scream like no other, which alerted my brother and let I'm dive out of the way at the last second. Kaysei landed with a thump but quickly got up, grabbed Nyx and raced toward me and Steven.

"Oh god!" Nyx whimpered, "What are we going to do?!"

All three of them looked up at me and i could see a glimmer of hope hidden behind the fear that was more prominent in their eyes. They trusted me to know what to do.

A yelp distracted me from thinking clearly again. The four of us snapped our eyes towards the source of the sound. The brown wolf that had thrown himself at my brother had landed roughly on the rock and twisted his paw. In his attempt to get up he had made the injury even worse. The rest of the wolves had frozen, waiting for his reaction to his injury. The huge wolf stood on three legs an nuzzled his paw, whimpering gently in pain. He bared his teeth at us when he realized we were staring at him. 

The bigger they are, the harder they fall. Kasei laughed.

I laughed then paled. The Night Star wolves were continuing to walk slowly towards us, shoulders hunched in anger. The now three legged brown wolf hobbled in front of all of them, muzzle wrinkled in anger, drool dripping onto the ground.

Though there was a good 20 feet of space between us, i realized that they were slowly but surely driving us toward the edge of the rock. We were at least 15 feet in the air and though it didn't seem like much, a misplaced jump to get onto the ground could end in our deaths because the ground around the stone was littered with sharp jagged rocks, a precaution we had taken so nobody would be able to interrupt the ceremony.

The bigger they are the harder they fall Kasei's voice echoed in my head.

Suddenly i knew what to do.

Okay guys! I know what we have to do! I thought  We need to jump off the edge of this stone.

Jump off the edge??!! Are you crazy?? We'll die! Nyx exclaimed, fear lacing through her voice.

No no no trust me. There is wide enough space between the pointy rocks for us to land safely.  Just pretend that were on the obstacle course. You either choose the right spot to jump or you'll land on the rocks and die. Besides, we've been doing this for most of our lives. I doubt these wolves are as graceful as us. They're built to pin and kill, not jump and chase. The chances are in our favor.

I trust you Sin. Kasei said

Me too.  Echoed Steven and Nyx.

All right then. On my count. Ready?

They all mentally nodded.

One

We tensed.

Two

We bent our knees, getting ready to take off.

Three

The four of us spun on our heels and raced toward the edge, just 15 feet away. I heard a snarl behind us and suddenly the rock started to shake, and i knew the Night Star warriors were chasing us. I gained as much momentum as i could in the few feet it took me to reach the edge, my feet hitting the stone with as much force as i could muster to propel me forward.

My feet thudded on the stone. I could hear the blood rushing through my ears. My heart beating rapidly out of my chest.

I tilted my head slightly as i reached the edge and saw the Night Star warriors hot on my heels, snarling fiercely. I could also see Kasei, Steven and Nyx running to the edge, but each at different places, all being chased by their own pack of wolves.

One of the wolves in the front lunged at me while i was distracted and i felt his teeth graze my ankle and i knew my time was running out.

Without second thought, i launched myself into the night air.

Hey pups! So I hope you guys are doing well cuz I'm not I got a call this morning telling me that my dad had gone into cardiac arrest and had been admitted into a hospital and my mom is anemic so she's there too...but I can't go see them cuz I'm 5 hours away from home and I can't drive there....so I decided to update because I need to clear my head. Anyway I hope you all like this chapter even though it probably sucks cuz on top of everything I think I'm getting sick. On a happy note, we got 390 reads!! Let's see if we can get 400 by the end of this week.. Lol as if that's happening. But still...

Oh and something else..if any of you want to design a cover of the book that would be amazing...please? I'm getting tired of the one I made. Its not that great.
