Becoming the Alpha Queen

Chapter 4

When we walked outside I saw that night had fallen and how the stars looked, bright lights against the dark black sky.

"Beautiful isn't it?" Steven asked.

"Yeah." I breathed.

We walked in silence the rest of the way, the only noise being our footsteps on the grass and crickets chirping. After a few minutes of walking I could see the campfires surrounding the center rock. Before we came into sight to those from our pack who were already there, Steven stopped.

"What's wrong?" I asked confused.

"Nothing, nothing. I just don't like the fact that Night Star is coming onto our land tonight. You know their reputation."

I sighed. He was right, I did know. Night Star wolves were known to be the most fierce, most ruthless pack in the continental U.S. They were only rivaled by the Dragon Soul pack that ruled over most of China and the werebears and werecats that made up the royal guard of the Alpha King.

"I know. Believe me, I feel the same way. But this is a good chance to more or less be on good terms with the future of Night Star."

"Well yea but still... I don't like it when they're on my territory.." he growled.

"No need to be so possessive. You know your dad is doing an awesome job and your brother will too. I'm sure when you shift you'll be one of the most amazing Lead Warriors the world has ever seen."

"Thanks. But that's my point, don't you see? I cant shift yet! And if things go south today I won't be able to help!"

I put my hand on his shoulder. I completely understood. I felt the same way. But we could only hope for the best.

"Come on, big boy. Were going to be late."

We rushed to the border of our territory, where my dad and the high ranking wolves of our pack were gathered to receive the Night Star wolves.

I realized that the only spot that was empty was mine and Stevens, since Nyx had gotten there before we had. I quickly took my place on the left side of our current Lead Warrior, Stevens dad David.

He looked at me and smiled when he saw me take my position and nodded to my dad. My father tilted back his head and let out a long howl, letting the Night Star pack know that we could commence with the ceremony. About a minute after his howl had died out, another howl rose in the distance, this time from the Night Star, letting us know that they were on their way.

After 20 minutes, we heard cars rumbling in the distance and 3 black SUVs came and parked by our border. From the first car, the Night Star Alpha pair, Beta pair and Lead Warrior stepped out. From the second car came 4 male wolves that I couldn't recognize but from the way they stood I could tell they were high ranking Warriors, maybe even the packs Assassins. And from the final car came 3 other wolves, these younger than the others, one whom I recognised as Ciro.

My father stepped up to the border, as did Alpha Abhay.

"I, Alpha Gregory of Winter Breeze, thank the Wolf Spirit for this beautiful night.  I grant permission to Alpha Abhay of Night Star and his accompanying wolves, to join me tonight in the shifting of my eldest daughter and Alpha heir, her Beta, and her Lead Warrior. I also accept his request to allow the shifting of his son and Alpha heir, his sons Beta, and his sons Lead Warrior on my land." My father said.

6 wolves shifting? I thought only Tanya and Ciro were shifting tonight! I exclaimed to Steven through the mind link.

Honestly, Sin. Don't you pay attention at all? Alpha Gregory explained all of this a few weeks ago. he sighed Since Tanya is Alpha heir and she hasn't shifted, Altair and my brother can't shift either because she doesn't have that connection with her wolf yet. So obviously they will all be shifting tonight, along with Ciro since it's his birthday too. Funny how that worked out actually... Besides haven't you wondered why I haven't shifted yet? I'm already 18 but noooo I have to wait for you to shift...baby.

Oh yea. I knew that, duhh. I said turning to glare at him. He just rolled his eyes and huffed.

Turning my attention back to the border, I realized that Tanya and Ciro had stepped forward and were repeating the words that my father and Alpha Abhay had said to reach other, just throwing in a "future" every now and then. Once they were done, the Night Star wolves crossed over the border and, as one group, we all turned and walked my waiting pack.
