They were going on a date, Eugene had asked Makoto to go out with him today but Makoto was going to be surprised because Eugene didn't tell him where they were going. So that brought Makoto to panicking to Will, who of course knew what the date was because Eugene had asked him if Makoto would like it, Makoto was panicking to Will over outfits. "Is this okay, Will?" Makoto spun around slightly so Will could see the whole thing. "Yes Makoto, you look good."

Makoto couldn't help but notice Will had an exasperated tone to his voice, but he couldn't begin to care less. "Hair-up or down?" Makoto asked Will with a pinched smile, Will sighed but stood up and walked over to Makoto who was standing in front of a mirror. "Brush your hair and leave it down, anything would be good but he's seen you mostly in your buns." Makoto nodded in agreement and began brushing his hair.

"I'm nervous, is that normal?" Neither of them noticed when Leon walked into the room until he answered Makoto's question. "It's perfectly normal when I went on my first date with Will I was very nervous. I continued to be nervous for every date until the fourth date we went on and then suddenly I found I wasn't nervous anymore." Leon kissed Will's cheek.

Makoto sighed and walked over to his bed huffing. "I'm just worried I'll mess things up, he told me he loved me, I couldn't say it back but I'm worried if the date goes south he'll not want to be more." Will shares a look with Leon before they walk towards Makoto. "Do you want to be more?" Makoto hesitantly nods, he hasn't thought about it much before.

Before Will can respond the doorbell rings signaling that Eugene had arrived. "Leon, go answer the door I'll help Makoto finish getting ready." Leon nods and walks towards the door. "Black or Gold?"

"Black." Makoto put on the black rings that Will had handed him, Makoto was going to walk out his bedroom door when Will stopped him with a hand on his arm. "I want you to have these, I was waiting but I think now is a perfect time. These were your mother's earrings, they're her birthstone, an emerald." Makoto was speechless as Will gently placed the earrings in the palm of his hand.

Makoto put them in and was in awe. "Will, thank you." Makoto turned and gave his uncle a tight hug. "Of course, she would be proud of you. I know you never knew her as much of a loving type but she did love you, in her own way."

When Makoto finally got his bearings he walked out of his room, he saw Eugene waiting by the door with Leon and he had flowers. "Oh, you didn't have to do this," Makoto said when he reached Eugene, he took the flowers when Eugene offered them to him. "I know I didn't but Will told me you never received flowers before so I had to change that." Makoto chuckled and grabbed Eugene's hand squeezing, he gently handed the flowers to Will knowing that he would put them in water.

"How did you get out of the house?" Makoto asks as he's buckling himself in the car, he knows that it's hard for Eugene to get out of the house without raising questions. "Well, Dad is at work and Jesse is at a friend's house so Mom wasn't really paying attention. Left a note though." Eugene winked at Makoto making his stomach flop.

When Eugene put the hand that wasn't on the steering wheel on the center console for Makoto to take, which he did. "So, are you gonna tell me where we are going?" Makoto looked at Eugene smirking, making sure Eugene saw him pouting slightly when he shook his head. "Not yet, we are almost there though Makoto. Just be patient."

That was one thing Makoto couldn't do, be patient.

Finally, what seemed like forever they pulled into this bar, Makoto gasped when he saw the name. "The Rosewater Bar, how did you know I've wanted to go here since forever." It's been said that Steve Rogers has been in this bar, but some people didn't want to think their Captain being in a strictly lgbtq+ bar no matter how many times the owner showed them pictures.

"Lucky guess?" Eugene smiled as he got out of the car and walked over to Makoto's side to open his door for him. "Thank you, I'm excited." Makoto kissed Eugene on the cheek before grabbing his hand to hold.

The Rosewater Bar wasn't just a regular bar anymore, they served drinks still but it had grown into a restaurant as well but it was only by reservation. "Table for Thompson." The host looked down at their computer before leading the way to a table, the bar was decked out in rose lighting making this pink hue appear on everything.

"A server will be with you in a moment." The host placed down the menus before walking back up to the front. "I'm not underdressed am I?" Makoto pulled his suit jacket slightly tighter around him.

Eugene smiled at Makoto fondly. "You're fine, I did want to ask you something though before we start eating." Makoto looked at Eugene curiously before nodding. "Will you be my boyfriend?"

Out of all the things Eugene could say, Makoto didn't expect him to say that. "Oh wow, yes! Are you sure?" Eugene's face brightened before leaning over the table and kissing Makoto.

"Of course I'm sure, I wouldn't have asked if I wasn't sure." Makoto felt something in his stomach, it wasn't sickness or anxiety but it was the chance to say those three words. "I love you." Eugene's head snapped up from where he was looking at the menu.

"What? You aren't just saying that because I asked you to be my boyfriend are you?" He shook his head at Eugene quickly. "I'm not, I love you, Gene."

"Did you have a good time?" Eugene asked as he was driving the two of them home. Makoto didn't reply.

"Makoto? You okay?" Eugene looked over to see Makoto looking at his phone with a worried look on his face. "What is it?" Luckily they were at a stoplight when Makoto turned his phone around to show Eugene a picture that they had the waiter take that night, but that wasn't what Makoto was zoomed in on.

"What does that mean?" Eugene looked at Makoto with concern in his eyes. "I don't know, I don't even know if this was meant for me."

Eugene scoffed. "It was meant for you, who else would understand what the earrings say." Eugene saw Makoto shrug. "How would Mom know that I would be under rose lighting?"

What they found was a game-changer in connecting the death of Makoto's parents to his powers but would it lead to the answers they're looking for is the question.
