"So that's why I no longer think my parents were in on it, it makes the most sense right?" Makoto lets out a breath when he's finished explaining everything that Leon told him the other night to Henry who sucks in a deep breath. "Well kiddo, it does seem like a good scenario. Especially since you told me that your parents weren't in the scientist or medical field which doesn't really match up with Hydra agents. Honestly though Makoto, we may never know what or who did this. I could be completely wrong and it was just how you were born, could be like Wanda." Henry chuckles at the last part.
Makoto rolled his eyes as he tightened his fist when Henry started to draw the blood back. "You don't lie though, but you're right about one thing. We might not ever know even if I want to know. It's just all so very confusing, I just wish I had answers." Henry nods in understanding as he takes the vials and puts them into the separator.
"I wish I had all the answers too but as long as you are alive and these cells aren't fighting your body then that's a good thing. You don't need answers for that, these blood tests." Henry huffs when Makoto rolls his eyes. "These blood tests that you hate so much shows me that the cells are just giving you powers and not harming your good cells but I think one more month of weekly blood tests and then you'll be free from this at least until you have your yearly check-up." Makoto frowned but nodded.
Makoto took the cotton ball that Henry offered gratefully before placing it over the needle prick that Henry left behind when he took the tube out. "The checkups will be here from now on right? You'll transfer my care to the Avengers Compound." Henry nodded not looking at Makoto as he is typing something on the computer. "I contacted Will and Leon and told them about the transfer, they okayed it as long as they came to the first appointment which I said was up to you."
Makoto smiled satisfied, he stood and grabbed an apple juice from the fridge. Makoto grabbed his phone from his pocket and answered the few texts that he had from Eugene and Will asking him how he was doing. "Hey, can I hang out?" A voice asks from the doorway, Makoto looks up with the juice box straw tucked in the corner of his mouth as he smiled when he saw who it was. "Of course you can Peter, here sit." Makoto nodded to the seat next to him on the couch which Peter walked over to with a smile.
"Henry went to take the samples to the health lab, I had just finished training so I wanted to chill a little bit before I go home to Aunt May." Peter chuckles slightly rubbing his face with a towel. "Oh does she not know you are Spider-Man?" Peter shakes his head making his sweaty hair flop. "No, not many people do actually but Tony uses the cover that I intern here so I sometimes stay long enough for it to be believable."
"I knew the intern thing but that's a good excuse." Makoto nods before taking a slow sip of apple juice, he presses his lips together before looking at Peter. "I have a question for you, you don't have to answer if you don't want to of course but I'm dating Eugene or Flash as you call him, I'm not sure if you know." Peter grins widely. "Finally, I'm glad you made your move. What was your question?"
Makoto quirks out a smile but smacks his lips before replying. "Eugene told me that he doesn't bully you anymore, he just teases you with friendly banter and what I guess I'm wondering is if it's true? I know what bullies are like and I don't want to be with one." Peter nods quickly, he puts his hands in between his legs and rubs his fingers together. "He's telling the truth, it was a hard transition but we talked after he pulled me in the bathroom but he said after Grayson died he knew that we should try so it's more of a friendly teasing now not pushing or harassing. We aren't friends and I don't think we will but we're trying to do better." Makoto looks at Peter satisfied with his answer.
"That's good, that's what I wanted to hear. You'd tell me if he wasn't right?" Makoto stands up slowly making sure he doesn't feel like he's going to crash. "Yea, I would but I don't think he would. At least not anymore." Makoto raises his eyebrows as he chuckles.
Right as Makoto is about to say he should find Henry for his results the person in question walks through the door with a smile on his face. "Oh Pete, Tony is looking for you," Henry tells Peter who's eyes widened and he rushes out the forgetting to say bye to Makoto which makes him chuckle. "He has no manners, but I just wanted to come back and say that everything looked good. Nothing out of the ordinary still, so you are free to go. Same time next week?"
Makoto takes the paper that Henry hands him and tucks it into his back pocket folding it up in half. "Yea, you don't mind if I bring Will or Eugene do you? I want them to see what happens because I know they're curious." Henry shakes his head easily. "I don't mind, just let me know ahead of time because the people here might have secret identities and they don't want other people to know." Makoto makes a sound of agreement before grabbing his phone and types on his phone quickly.
"I will, if you don't mind I gotta go. My ride is here." Henry dramatically gestures towards the door making Makoto wince in embarrassment. "You're such a Dad," Makoto muttered but because of the close capacity, he had a feeling Henry heard him if the grin on his face was an answer.
