Makoto was home alone, he was supposed to be getting the house ready for Eugene and Jesse to stay but he already did that, now Makoto was just waiting for them to get home. Most Saturdays he would hang out with Nick and Aurora but he can't today, least he can see them at school.
At first, Makoto was annoyed but now he's actually excited, he's finally going to be able to see how Eugene is like when he isn't at home, here will be a safe place for Jesse and Eugene they won't have to be worried about their parents coming home and yelling at them or in Harrison's case, abusing them.
Makoto heaved as he got up, he stretched his legs and walked to the guest bedroom, it would be a matter of time before they got here and to avoid Will being annoyed with him so he had to make sure the bed was made and clean.
Makoto opened the guest bedroom door and saw that the pillows were messed up a little so he went over, straightened them up and stood back by the door and smiled, they could pull this off.
It was perfect timing too because Makoto heard the car pulling in and went to the door to unlock it when he looked out the door, Jesse got out first and she looked upset then Makoto saw why, Eugene had a black eye and by the way, he was walking slow Makoto thinks that Eugene has other injuries as well.
Makoto opened the front door and put a fake smile on his face, he had to pretend to be happy.
"Hi, Jesse!" Makoto hugs Jesse when Jesse hugs him tightly, Makoto has always been kind to Jesse.
"Hi Makoto." Jesse had her bag slung over her shoulder and Makoto took it from her so he can put in the guest room for them.
"So you two are going to be sleeping in the guest room, Eugene, I hope you don't mind sleeping on the futon in Makoto's room." Will had decided instead of making Eugene sleep on the floor Makoto said he can sleep on the futon in his room.
"That's fine Mr. Brenner." Eugene only called Will Mr. Brenner when he's had a really tough night with his parents so it's hard when Will and Makoto call him Mr. Brenner because they know he's hurting inside.
Will sighed and gave Eugene's bag to Makoto who lead Eugene to his room, the futon was already made up for him, it was laid down, and Makoto's room was clean which was shocking for him no matter how much Will and Leon pester him to do it but he finally did it because he didn't want to embarrass himself in front of Eugene.
"So I was thinking tonight we could work on the Steve Rogers essay?" Makoto asks breaking up the silence that was in the room.
"That sounds good, I like your room." Eugene looks around Makoto's room, it was covered in superhero memorabilia, he even had an original sketch piece that Steve Rogers made in the 1940s.
"Thank you, really shows off my obsession." Makoto laughs at his own joke.
"Boys! Dinner!" Will popped his head in Makoto's room and told them but then ran back to the kitchen.
Leon gets off soon just in time for dinner. Eugene and Makoto made there way to the kitchen, while Eugene took a seat next to Jesse, Makoto sat across from Eugene which was his usual seat but it was unspoken.
"Hope you guys enjoy." Will was known to be a good cook, and tonight was no different, they're having Will's famous tacos.
"Thank you, this looks delicious." Jesse picks up the taco and starts eating it.
"Thank you Jesse." While they're eating Leon came home.
"Hey Babe. Smells good." Leon walked into the kitchen with his scrubs and and kissed Will.
"Thanks, go get changed." Will playfully pushed Leon away, Makoto was the only one who noticed this but Eugene wasn't looking at Will and Leon's interaction, he was looking at his food, not eating just pushing it around.
About 30 minutes later they had all eaten and it found Eugene and Makoto in the kitchen having homework on the table, Jesse was in the living room with Will and Leon watching cartoons
"Now I understand you wanted to do Spider-Man but you're gonna have to tap into your inner superheroness for the essay." Makoto gave Eugene a smile which was easily reciprocated but winced when he hurt his eye.
"Well, with your help I can do this." Eugene opens his book that he got from the library about Steve.
"I also brought these from my collection you can use." Makoto puts 3 books about Steve ontop of the table in front of them.
"Wow, you really are a fanboy huh?" Eugene said that as a joke but Makoto looked at Eugene seriously.
"He was the one who made me realize I'm pansexual." Makoto opens his favorite book about Steve one that Makoto said was the most important because it was highly correct.
"Wait, you're saying that you have a teacher who is Gabe Jones, grandson?" Eugene was slowing liking Steve more and more because of the essay he's doing.
"Yea, he's one of my favorite teachers." Makoto smiled and looked down at the book again.
As they're writing the essay Makoto is getting closer and closer to Eugene, so close that they can feel each others breath, Eugene and Makoto looked towards each other and began to get closer to each other.
Makoto leaned in and kissed Eugene, Eugene was kissing back but then he pulled back.
"I can't do this Makoto, I'm sorry. I'm not ready." Eugene gave Makoto a sad smile and looked back to the paper he was writing.
"I understand, I'm sorry Eugene." Makoto looked sheepish.
"It's fine Makoto." Eugene doesn't look up so Makoto goes to the bathroom.
He shuts the door behind him and sits on the toliet, he cant believe he was stupid to kiss Eugene, Makoto grabs the secret bottle of Vodka he has which is hidden under the sink and takes a swig, it burns as it goes down his throat but after two swigs he puts it back.
He faces the mirror and puts on a fake smile, he's numbing the pain, and it's working.
