"What can I get for you?" He said, with a smirk on his face and lights in his eyes. He was washing the bar counter, when Cas had walked in and sat down.
Cas shook his head. "I'm fine," he said, not really wanting a drink until his blind date came. His brother Gabe set him up on it, since his love life was practically dead and Cas 'needed to be more social.'
"Well, you have to order something," He chuckled.
Cas nodded. Might as well. She probably wouldn't show up anyways. "The cheapest thing you have," he shrugs.
"Oh, well that beer takes like shit," He said, making a face. "How about our Blue Curacao Liqueur, on the house."
Cas raised his eyebrows, fixing the collar on his trenchcoat. "Thank you."
"Don't mention it. You look like you've had a rough day." He ducks down underneath the bar table and fetches a glass and a shaker, and pours drinks until something exotic Cas had never tried appears in front of him. Cas looks at it. It even had an orange on the side of the martini glass. "Try it," He ushers.
Castiel takes a sip. Tastes better than it looks, judging on the colour.
"Like it?" The man raised his eyebrows.
Castiel nodded. "Yes. Thank you, um--"
"Dean," He supplied, nodding. "No problem."
Casl nodded again.
"And you are...?" Dean asked.
"Oh, yeah. Um. I'm Castiel."
"Nice name," Dean smirked. "Are you waiting on anybody?"
"Yes, but I doubt she's coming."
Something flickers over Dean's eyes, but Cas can't tell what. "Ah. What makes you think she won't come?"
Cas shrugged. He didn't know why he was telling the bartender all of this. "They never do."
The bartender was called over by somebody else for a drink, and Castiel sat and sipped the liqueur alone, twirling the umbrella in his fingers. The bar had dim lighting, and Cas could see why Gabe would set the date up here. It had an exciting and mysterious vibe to it.
"Sorry," Dean said, going back up to Cas. He dusted off his hands on his black apron, as if something was on his hands. "I know how you feel."
Cas raised an eyebrow. "You? Come on, you're obviously a ladies' man. That woman over there was all over you." Castiel can't believe he just said that, out loud. I mean, in his head, he was thinking things about the bartender, but to say it to his face?
"No she wasn't," He said.
"Yeah, she was," Cas scoffed, adding to his embarassment.
"Well, I'd be damned if she was. Back to you. Why don't you think your girl will come?" Dean quickly changes the subject. He gets back to cleaning the bar counter.
Cas shrugs.
Dean smirks. "Not one to talk, are you?"
Cas felt a blush creep through his cheeks. He sipped the liqueur.
"Well, tell me if you need anything else. Nice talking to you, man."
* * *
Three hours passed and Cas still was sitting there, finished his drink. He knew two hours ago that she wasn't going to come, but he had nothing better to do. Plus, he could watch Dean. He knew that he'd probably never see him in his life again anyways.
Dean walked up to Cas one last time. "The bar's closing. Sorry your girl never came, Cas."
Something about him saying his name. "I don't really care," he shrugs. Castiel stood up and exhaled. "Nice to see you too."
Cas could feel Dean's eyes on him as he walked out the door.
