A week later, Cas headed off to his mother's house. She was just on the other side of the city. He took the bus, but when he got off, he ran into somebody. "Sorry..." he mumbled.
"Oh, you again?" The familiar voice said.
"Dean?! What are you doing here?" Cas asked.
He coughed. Cas wasn't sure if it was because he didn't want to say or if he just had something in his throat. "I, uh. What are you doing here?"
"Um, visiting family."
"Cool. Listen, I really should go. Weird bumping into you, again." Dean laughed. "It's like the Universe wants us to be friends. See ya."
Dean hopped on the bus just in time, and waved goodbye. That was weird. Usually Dean was the one that wanted to talk to him.
Cas sighed. It was inevitable. Everybody that showed a slight interest in talking to him always ran away anyways.
The bus never made it to the edge of the city where his mother lived, so he had to walk. He walked past the hospital, then a mile, and finally made it to his mother's house.

His mother was doing fine. She talked about Church alot. She was a pastor there. Just the same old, same old, boring conversation.
The next few days, Cas saw Dean a few times in the hallways and on campus but Dean stopped talking as much. So Cas stopped talking as much.
Dean was the only thing different in his boring routine. It saddened Cas that he barely talked to him anymore. Other than him, it was the same Church Sundays and Good Grades and Sketching Times. Every day.
One day his mom was sick, just a common cold, and asked Castiel to fill in for him at the Church.
