xi) the perfect starry date

Dean took Cas on his first date. 

It was out in the park, with the stars all bright and when Cas saw how nicely Dean had layed down a blanket on the windshield of the Impala and lit candles and made dinner, he couldn't take his eyes off of it. 

"This is too much," Cas whispers. 

Dean licked his lips nervously. "I knew I should've toned it down, I just--" 

"No, no! I mean it's too perfect."

Dean chuckled. "Phew." He hopped on the roof and broke into the picnic basket. He pulled out two sandwhiches. "It's not that fancy, but I don't have cooking skills, so..."

Cas shook his head, smiling. "Dean, sandwhiches are my favorite." Can pulled off a bite of his sandwhich and started to chew. Sure, the bread was a bit dry and the peanut butter was slathered on there, but it was the best sandwhich he had ever had. 

He looked at Dean, in the dim starry light. His hair was messy on top of his head, and his green eyes coul pierce through any shadow. His shirt fit loosely, but was slimming. Castiel's breath hitched.

They made nice conversation, light and bubbly, just like the champagne. 

About halfway through, Dean couldn't stand being so far away from those crystal clear blue eyes. He kissed Cas, boldy. His lips were soft and it caught Cas off guard. 

"Sorry, I didn't mean--" Dean started. 

Cas kissed him to shut up. Dean obliged and they were making out on the front of the Chevy Impala for the first time. It was the best first date he ever had, with the intoxicating smell of the champagne and the bright stars and the silence of the night. It was definitely worth the wait. 

Cas even thought it was worth the years of bullying for being a queer.
