Cas worked on his studies for a while, Dean wandered around. It was taking him a while to finish the book.
A week and a half had passed.
Cas visited his family, Dean was coughing more now. Cas was wondering about him, but he never asked, because Dean never enjoyed talking about it, or what was going on.
Cas came to more Church sessions, and saw Dean came more often.
Sometimes Dean would sit with his younger brother there, and Cas would talk to him.
Cas sat beside Sam. "How are you?"
Sammy sniffed. "Fine, fine."
"Are you alright?" Cas was alarmed.
Sam smiled, but it was sad. "Fine as I'll ever be," he said bitterly.
Cas swallowed. "You're not fine."
"No shit sherlock."
"What's wrong?"
Sam didn't respond, and Dean came back from the washroom and sat down beside his brother. When Sam saw him come back, he wiped away the tears at the edge of his eyes and sat up a bit taller.
"Everything alright?" Dean asked, seeing something between the two.
"Yeah, Dean. We're great." Sam stood up. "Let's go." He walked out of Church and the doors slammed shut behind him.
Dean shrugged. "Moody teenagers," he chuckled to Cas.
"We were only teenagers a few years ago," Cas deadpanned.
Dean shook his head. "Dude, Cas, lighten up," he punched his arm playfully. "Joke."
Cas nodded. Oh, right. Jokes. He was just too distracted with questions to be bothered.
