It was funny, things like this.

Funny how it just seemed like yesterday when Castiel Novak met Dean Winchester, that awkward exotic drink in the bar. Funny that it only took three months for Castiel to fall deeply in love with a man so broken, with the greenest eyes that anybody would ever see.

Cas finally found out over the days he spent at the hospital, watching over Dean, who was at the moment stable on the monitor. He found out after Dean had fallen into a coma, that his green eyes were impossible to recreate, and that's what he had loved so much about him.

He brought him a rose every day, spent every waiting hour at his bedside. He placed a little piece of his painting attatched to that rose, on his table. Little pieces of the painting. The nurses were worried about Cas, because he himself dropped out of College as well.

It was funny.

Cas told Sam, and to his surprise Sam was not shocked. He was just depressed, and so emotionless. Like he knew what was coming, he knew that Dean was facing a terminal heart disease. It didn't function properly, and sometimes it caused his lungs to burn for air since he couldn't move them, and it sometimes claused blood clots. Cas never liked hearing the medical terms for what the doctors said Dean Winchester had.

Sam didn't want to go to school; and Cas didn't mind either. They usually sat together, Cas tracing circles on Dean's hand, Sam's expressionless face watching the window.

Funny how Dean was laughing one day, and well, dying the next. Cas wasn't angry that Dean kept the secret from him. He barely felt anything anymore.

Every single day he stayed by Dean's side.

It was funny, so goddamn funny.
