Over the days Cas invited Dean to stay the night at his dorm, and Sam could come with. When Sam slept Dean explained everything about his father to Cas.

He was very abusive. Got drunk all the time, ever since mom died from a hereditary illness. He barely knew what reality was anymore. Dean told Cas that his father never used to be like this, that he was once happy. That's the way the Winchesters choose to remember John.

Now, Dean doesn't even care about that bastard. He moved out and now realized leaving Sammy alone with his father wasn't as good of an idea as he thought. Originally, his father wasn't that much of an alcoholic, but apparently became more drunk throughout the years and Sammy didn't say much to it.

Cas felt awful for even being a little mad at Dean before.

Sometimes, when Cas slept--because all they did was sleep, since Sam was there--he woke up in the middle of the night.

Dean was still reading Mr. Perfect.

Almost done, he saw.

Cas drew and drew, and he painted Dean's green eyes. He bought more paints and had about twenty different shades of green. He was drawing a big mural of the side of Dean's perfectly symmetrical face; and tried to get his eyes right, but Cas always saw more than green.

His painting always lacked the depth he saw in Dean's eyes.
