Chapter 25 - Fifty Shades of Gay

The room stared at him, people gapped, his team members looked horrified, his many, many conquests blinked back the tears, but no one said anything.  It was almost like they were waiting for the punch line.  Loyal stood on the speaker and shrugged in an attempt show that this was it, no practical joke, this was who he was.

“You are what?” the screech came from the back of the room.

“I’m Gay,” Loyal confirmed what his shirt said as he looked over all the stunned faces to where Anna stood.

“You can’t be!” Anna spluttered.  “It’s not true!  I would know if it was true!”

“I’ve been denying it but I can’t fight this anymore.  You deserve to find out the truth.  Everyone deserves the truth.  I will support you and the baby but I won’t lie about who I am anymore.”

“But... But...But we are supposed to get married.  I’m supposed to be your trophy wife!  I’m supposed to be a WAG!” Anna wailed.

“What are you saying Anna?”

“I’m not marrying anyone who thinks Graham Norton is hot!”

Loyal looked at Anna in confusion, “So... me giving up the football scholarship so that we would have to live on a minimum income job, wouldn’t have bothered you?  Not being able to drink and having to eat all that stuff didn’t worry you?  Not being able to audition for your own television show and all the condemnation you got, didn’t make you bat a false eyelashed-lid?  But because I’m gay you don’t want to marry me?  You are giving up on me now?”

Anna sniffed, “I can fix all the other stuff!  I could make sure you didn’t give up the scholarship and I would endure the other stuff, I would make the sacrifices because I know that we would have made the perfect celebrity couple, but this... this... you wouldn’t do this if you didn’t mean it.   Loyal Lee would never humiliate himself with this - unless it was true.  I don’t want to be married to a man who I’ll have to compete with for the affections of the pool cleaning boy!”

“But what about the pregnancy? What about our baby?”

“I was never pregnant!  I was going to have a miscarriage after the wedding!” in fury she spat the words out.

Loyal blinked at her.

“I had it all arranged! You’ve ruined everything!” Anna ranted oblivious to her audience, “I had my outfits picked out for everything, with the matching shoes and accessories.  It was going to be perfect.  I was going to be perfect.  Why did you have to do this?  What am I supposed to do now?”

“Frankly Anna, I don’t give a damn!” Loyal voice trembled with his rage, “You are a lying scheming bitch! You were manipulating me to get what you wanted!  You...”

“Get out of my house,” A low voice sounded from behind Anna, “How dare you do that to my son!  If I ever see sniffing around any of my family I will make it so that the only magazine cover your face will grace will be ‘Scar Tissue Weekly’!”

“Mum?” Loyal cringed as he waited for her to turn on him but she was too busy manhandling Anna from the house.  He had never seen her so mad.

A hand grabbed a hold of Loyal and pulled him through the crowd who were now laughing at Anna’s fall.  Even her best friends seemed to be more than happy to distance themselves from her now.  A couple of the cheerleaders offered their support as he was pulled past.

Loyal twisted in the direction he was being pulled in to find a girl in a short red dress pushing him into the bathroom.  Her legs were long and her hips rolled as she drew him through the door and quickly locked it behind him.  She stood there with her hands on her hips.
