When we arrived at Hogwarts, everything was exactly as it usually was with it's enchanting ceiling in the Great Hall and its usual mysterious feeling. I absolutely loved Hogwarts for that reason. I loved a bit of mystery.

"Elle, are you sitting down or not?" Lola asked, looking up at me with with a bemused expression on her face.

"Yes." I grumbled, sitting down next to her.

"Hey guys." Luke Malfoy came sauntering over in his Slytherin Robes. Even though he had been sorted into Slytherin, he didn't act like one. He was one of the nicest people you could meet and we had been friends since second year. It took James and Fred a bit of time to get used to him.

"Where we you on the train mate?!" James, slapped his back in a friendly way as he sat down next to him across from me and Lola.

"I was sat talking to Scorp, Al, Rose and Mel." Luke shrugged. Even though Albus, Rose, Scorpius and their friend Melanie were two years younger than us, we were still pretty good friends with them.

"Has you brother still got a huge crush on Rosie?" James laughed.

"Definitely. He wouldn't shut up about her all summer. Dad hated it." Luke rolled his eyes.

"Did you have a good summer Luke?" I smiled at him.

"I did actually Elle, did you lot?" Luke looked round at the four of us. We all nodded or told him 'yes'.

"Hey mate, why were you at Victoria's wedding the other day?" James asked.

"You were at Victoria's wedding?" Lola asked, shocked.

"Yeah. Apparently my Mum knows your Mum quite well Elle, so we were invited." Luke shrugged.

"We were shocked to see you there." I told him.

"Yeah. Why were you there?" Luke turned to James.

"I was Elle's date." James sat up proudly.

"He was your date?!" Lola turned to me, her eyes narrowing.

"It wasn't like that! Mother insisted and James was the first person that I thought of." I shrugged, avoiding Lola's accusing gaze.

"We had loads of fun didn't we Elle?" James smirked.

"If you say so." I rolled my eyes.

The conversation was finally dropped when Professor McGonagall tapped her glass which meant that the feast was finished and it was time for her speech. She was looking very old now, but she was still a nice teacher. She had been at Hogwarts for years.

"Good evening students. I hope you have all had a brilliant summer but now it is time to get back down to work. This year we have some brilliant news, one of our students has decided to set up a Christmas dance that is open to the whole school. If any bodies parent's were at school whilst we had the Triwizard Tournament then you'll have heard of the Yule Ball. Our dance is going to be similar, but without the two other schools. Now as you know, the forbidden forest is out of bounds to all students. Prefects will now show first year students to their dormitories. Good night."

When the Triwizard Tournament was mentioned, many people turned round to face James, or looked at Albus and Lily. It was a well known fact that Harry Potter had taken part in the Triwizard Tournament. However, many people didn't know that Dominique and Louis Weasley's Mother had also took part in the tournament. Their older sister Victoire, had finished Hogwarts and was now living with James' god brother Teddy Lupin near Diagon Alley somewhere.

"Does that mean we have to mess about asking dates to the dance?" Fred groaned as we exited the Great Hall.

"Yes Fred" Lola rolled her eyes "I wonder who will ask me."

I shared a look with James, we both knew that that was hinted at Luke. She obviously wanted him to ask her. She was so obvious sometimes.

"I'm sure someone will Lo." I smiled, patting her on the arm.

"You don't have anything to worry about Elle! You'll have everybody falling at your feet asking you." Lola rolled her eye's.

"As if!" I cried. As if anybody would ever fall at my feet asking me to go to the dance with them.

"Well you're not exactly ugly Elle. You're completely the opposite." James shrugged.

"Aw James, did you just call me pretty?" I pinched his cheek's.

"Get off!" He swatted my hand's away, narrowing his eyes at me.

"Aw Jamsie! You're so cute!" Lola joined in. When I taunted James, she had to as well. It just added affect.

"I'll see you all tomorrow." Luke rolled his eyes and made his way in the opposite direction once we reached the staircase. His common room was in the dungeons, so he didn't need to use the stairs.

"See you later Luke!" Lola cried as she bounded up the stairs. We all told him similar things and then made our way to the Gryffindor Common Room.

"I wonder who we're in a dorm with this year." I turned to Lola.

"Well it better not be Slutty Serena, I really can't be bothered with her this year. I walked in on her and fifteen lads last year! Fifteen!!" Lola cried, shivering at the thought.

"Serena Naylor?" James asked.

"Yes." I rolled my eyes.

"She asked me out towards the end of last year." James shrugged as if it was nothing.

"Ew, I hope you said no." Lola shivered.

"Yes I did, my heart's set on someone else Lola." James told her, looking down at the floor for a moment.

"And it's pretty obvious who that is." Lola muttered.

"You know?!" James cried, stopping in his tracks for a minute.

"Of course, I'm not stupid." Lola rolled her eye's.

"Am I missing something here?!" I cried. I could usually read James like an open book, so how could I not know?

"No Elle, you just keep being you." Fred patted my head, told the Fat Lady the password and headed through the portrait hole into the portrait hole. Lola quickly followed and so did James, leaving me behind.

I rolled my eyes and followed them into the Common Room. I noticed that Lola had already headed up to our dormitory, so I quickly followed. I wasn't staying downstairs without her, James or Fred because Chase was bound to come and talk to me again.

"Lola?" I walked into our common room and stuck my head around her curtains on her bed.

"What's up?" She asked, smiling at me.

"What's going on with James?" I asked.

"You'll find out soon enough Elle, it's not my place to tell you." Lola smiled.

"Please?" I begged. I hated being kept out of the loop.

"I can't Elle, he'll tell you when he's ready." Lola told me.

"Fine." I grumbled.

"Night Elle." She closed her curtains.

"Night."

With that I headed over to my bed by the window and began to unpack my things until I came across my pyjamas. I got changed quickly and climbed into bed, closing the curtains around it.

Today had been a tiring day.
