Trampling over my shattered fake manliness, I tried hard to muster up the courage which had just vanished into thin air.

Quickly I pulled my beard and moustache with force, making my cheeks burn and writhe in the throbbing pain, as the glue was making the bond colossal enough to shoot aching sobs across my head. And stuffed it under my pocket, with a swift motion.

Massaging my cheeks, my steps came to halt, and I swiveled my head, after taking my cap away, making my raven coloured locks cascade over my shoulder, gleaming cheerfully, as my body turned facing him.

"Are you okay, um, miss? This place is dangerous to be alone at night." Concern dripped through his words.

"Yes, sir." Grinning from ear to ear, I plastered my gaze at him.

What did he mean by dangerous. Did he mean that because I am a girl, I shouldn't walk at night especially here because I couldn't handle danger!

A surge of fury swept over my face, washing the grin away.

"What's with the dress?"

"Uh, I was in a hurry, so I wore grabbing the things in my vicinity." I blurted out.

"Well, it's nice to see people valuing their time, although your dress sense seems..." He trailed off, letting his eyes rake over the strange creature standing infront of him.

"Weird. Strange. Yeah, I get that a lot." I huffed as I gathered the stares I got from the street.

"Very well, this is an infamous place of vagabonds. I saw a guy walking towards here but suddenly he disappeared. Have you seen him? Your dress seems similar to him, or so, I couldn't see him clearly due to crowd, but he had this big beard."

Is he talking about me?

"I-I didn't see anyone like that, sir. But why would a guy at night wandering here should be judged as danger?"

"Nothing of your concern, miss. Is this your way to home?" He changed the topic, though doubts paved their way into my mind.

"Y-yes sir." Though I don't know where the hell would this way leads to, except for the fact that I am late to pass the package, invoked the lies in me, shrugging their deep slumber.

"But if I recall, it leads to a tramway which further leads to a dead end. Are you sure?" Wiggling his eyebrows, he asked, boring his eyes over mine. Suspicions had seemed to bud in his round face.

"I meant, there is a shortcut, there is this wall which I climb usually to save my bus fare."

Yes, and that is the wall of lie.

"I don't know much as I am new here but if you happen to see that guy..."

"Not necessary, sir, I know he won't even dare to stand infront of you, sir. And you would sniff him out, if he ever come across you." Stifling the wave of laugh, I managed to let out a snort, "and I know the ways to defend me if I happen to encounter him!"

Huh, so you know to save you from you! Great. My mind mocked me at the very thought, though I shoved it behind my mind.

"Ahem, ahem, yes, you're absolutely right. Shall I accompany you to your place?" Adjusting his collar, he passed me a weird grin.

Shit! Hasn't he got any other job than this? Um, what other job would he might have, when he is at his duty of night patrolling?

"Um, did you say a guy with a jacket like this, jeans, and beard?"

"Yes, why?" Curiosity rose in him, as he asked with widened eyes.

"I think, he just passed through there." Raising my hands, I pointed the opposite direction which his back was facing.
