I was numb. He fired me for no reason at all and all I was left with my dance now. All those thoughts faded away jut like that. I felt dizzy.

After his announcement, he rushed away from me, I could feel my quivering hands, sweating profusely. I felt choked.

No reason. No explanation whatsoever. Fired just like that as of throwing out after use. Like a disposable glass. Am I that to him?

You helped him find a fake person, you didn't report a murder for him, you again tried help him and here you are standing fired. Good work despo.

Amongst the medical bills, my father's business failures, this job was my anchor. I had now known the wisdom of my mom's advise when I started getting payments monthly because they made me feel financially independent, made me realize the effects a job can do.

It's all gone. My mistake.

I felt like I would collapse in between the party. I slowly climbed up to my room after making an excuse to Stephanie.

"Helen, what is it? Why are you sad?" Stephanie came in and asked.

"I.. Steph..I lost my job. Jayden..I worked in his company. He has fired me now."

"Oh that was quick!" She replied.

I whimpered in pain. My lips quivered, eyes were drenched in agony of tears.

"You know Helen, you can return back to the dance studio. The thing is you are a brilliant dancer. You shouldn't lose such a talent by sitting in these offices." Stephanie advised, the softness in her voice made me calm down a bit.

"You.. you are right, Steph. But I don't think I'd get job there easily."

"I will look into that Helen. Don't you worry."

"No it's alright my girl. I have got you again. That's all I wanted. I can do anything at this moment. I'm not gonna lose."

"You go my Hel. I love-love you!" Stephanie cheered up, hugging me into her protective arms and I felt a lot more comfortable with her.

"Hm, I think I should go," Nick was standing at the doorway glancing over at us.

"Nick, where had you gone in middle of party?" Steph asked looking at him, furrowing her eye brows.

"Some urgent work. Steph, that club manager was asking for you."

"Oh I forgot. I will see you later, Helen. I have a work to do."

"It's alright Steph, I am going back to my home, I have few businesses to do." I replied.

"Woah, that was fast, Hel. Can't you stay here for a while?" Nick asked curiously.

"I will come back."

"Ok, as you wish, Helen. This is your home too." Stephanie strolled out in hastened steps as she had some work.

Me and Nick were left in the room.

"Nick."

"Yes!"

"Nothing."

"Tell me Helen Jane."

"Call me Hel."

"I thought you didn't like me calling it!"

"You can call me that now, only if you wish!"

"You cried, Hel?"

"Nah, I didn't."

"Tell me."

"Why are you nagging me Nick?"

"I wanted to hear from you, anything you wanna talk I'm all ears Hel."

"Why? Regretting on your mistakes?"

"I..I am sorry. I should've listened you when you told me about that Leon bastard. He was my bestfriend. Even after knowing my love for you, he tried to make advances on you."

"Well, you blamed me for it. Blamed me for him trying to rape me that night! You said I was the one at fault and your bestie was innocent. Why?"

"I was a fool, Hel. There isn't a single day in my life I stopped thinking about that cursed moments. Cursed by my foolishness." Sadness laced his face, I could see tears getting ready to jump!

"Leave it, Nick."

"So what was the matter? Why are you sad?"

"You know Jayden Reyes? I worked in his company. He fired me today. He had come here."

"Oh my God! Jayden?! You meant the Jayden Reyes!"

"Um Nick, grammatically speaking.."

"Fuck your grammar! You worked for him?"

"Yeah. What's the big deal?"

"Hel, he is the kingpin of so many companies in here. He has agents running his...Oh it's endless."

"Easier to get rich when it is inherited Nick!" I smirked.

"No, actually there's a talk that his father was a drunkard and destroyed all that. Jayden had a gang then. He wasn't influential like now but then he committed fraud by setting fire on one of his companies and got a hefty insurance claim by framing it as accident."

"Wow! Is it true?"

"I don't know. Just people in my circle talk about him like that although nobody is daring enough to say it on
his face." Nick heaved in a sigh.

I was stunned. All those moments with him reeled in my mind.

Fuck.

"Nick, he said he had some work with you. Had he contacted you?"

"No. You mean the one you came asking for, right? That guy Theodore is dead. Nobody knows how."

I know. My inner voice rumbled.

"You know him?"

"After you had told me about him in Ezlyn's cafe, I searched about him in my circle but then that incident with Willie happened."

So he lied to me that he got the work done! "but..ok leave-leave it." Few thoughts were disturbing my mind although I left them immediately. I had my life to manage. My bloody fired life!

He strolled out after he got a call. I layed down on the bed.

I switched on the television to see some news to freshen up my mind.

Suddenly my phone rang.

"Hello."

"It's Jayden."
