Camille's point of view:
"Camille, I was thinking about something."
I look questioningly at my father and my heart begins to throb painfully. Please, don't let it have anything to do with a move or Logan. "About what?" I ask, trying to sound curious and not suspicious.
"About your … boyfriend," he says slowly. Oh God. "What about Logan?"
"Well … Now that I know I can't separate you two from each other, I thought I could at least get to know him better. What do you say?"
"How did you imagine that?"
He shrugs. "Just invite him to dinner. Then we can talk."
How can I prevent this? "That sounds good. But I don't know if Logan has time for that. He and the other guys have to work a lot."
Dad shrugs. "He'll find a way." He looks over at me, smiles and then looks at his watch. "It's not that late yet. Why don't you go to Logan and tell him about the invitation?"
"I thought I should stay in the apartment after dinner."
He nods in agreement. "Well, you can make an exception today."
Now I have no choice. "Okay, thanks, Dad. See you later."
"See you later," he says, turning away with a smile. I leave the apartment and think about what to do. Then it occurs to me: Jo. She will come up with something good.
Mr. Taylor opens the door. "Ah, good evening, Camille."
"Hi, Mr. Taylor. Is Jo there?"
He shakes his head. "No, I'm sorry, Camille. She got an important call from work and had to leave. Should I tell her to call you when she comes back?"
I nod. "Yes, thank you. That would be great."
He nods, smiling. "Okay. Have a nice evening." He closes the door.
Hesitantly, I knock on the door of 2J. It opens and James stands grinning in front of me. "Hey, Camille. Come in." He doesn't even ask what I want here. Mrs. Knight is washing up, Katie and Carlos are sitting at the counter and Kendall and Logan are sitting on the couch, watching something on TV. James clears his throat. "Hey, Logan, Camille is here."
Logan turns his head to the side and looks over at me. He frowns. He knows something is wrong. He gets up and comes to me. "What's wrong?" He asks suspiciously. I roll my eyes. "That's a great way to greet your girlfriend."
He lowers the voice so that only I can hear him and asks again, "Seriously, what's wrong?"
I shrug. "What makes you think something is wrong?"
In response, he merely raises an eyebrow. Then he says quietly, "Come with me." He goes to his room and I follow him reluctantly. Once there, I look at Logan annoyed. He closes the door and leans against it, as if to prevent me from escaping. Now he crosses his arms over his chest and looks at me. "So?"
"It's nothing."
He sighs. "Camille, you're a good actress. But right now, even I could lie better than you. Again: What's wrong?"
