Richies POV

It was pretty cold outside, I left Billiams house ten minutes ago. I didn't have a jacket but I wasn't really that cold, my cheeks burned.

I walked over the bridge, the kissing bridge. Everybody carved their and their boyfriend or girlfriends initials into the old tree. I squatted down and found some space nothing was carved into.

I got my red pocket knife out and started carving.

I didn't dare to really carve it in, it was just a half done carving. I wanted him to be here when I carved it in. The letters weren't exactly perfect but they were just good enough. I got up and looked at the letters R+B.

Bills POV

My mom came home right after Richie left, I went to bed but I couldn't sleep.

Everything that happened raced through my head. Did he really feel this way, it was too good to believe. I got red just thinking of it.

My mom walked into my room, she sat down on my bed. "What's up with you today?" I rolled over on my side, "H-have you e-ever been in l-love?" I felt stupid asking that, of course she had, she was married.

"Who are you talking about, Bill?" she stroke my chin. "M-mom, I'm g-gay. I h-have a b-boyfriend." She looked at me, "Oh honey, I know." she looked out in the room. "I know that boy, Richie, wasn't just your friend."

"W-we were j-just friends when y-you met him."

"Yeah, but there was a spark. Just promise me you won't get your feelings hurt. Love does hurt, it really does." she brushed some hair out of my eyes. " I-i'm not g-gonna get m-my feelings hurt."

"I love you, sleep well." She got up and left the room.

Richies POV

I laid in my bed, unable to sleep. This boy that just moved here made me feel something again, he made me feel alive.

He made me feel loved.

Love. The feeling of being loved. I have craved it my whole life and suddenly it was there. I feel so lucky, and so happy. My life may not be the best, but nothing could get better than it was right now.

I laid there, thinking of his deep ocean eyes as I drifted asleep.
