A/N: how beautiful are they. wow. ok happy reading :D

Monday's are always horrible, but Monday's after a week long Thanksgiving break are the epitome of horrible.

Especially when you haven't seen your friends, or boyfriend, throughout the entire time.

I stare at myself in the mirror, noting the dark circles underneath my eyes generated from the lack of coffee and disrupted sleep schedule.

"Anne, we'd like to speak to you before you leave for school," Marilla shouts from the staircase.

"Okay!" I shout back.

I quickly braid my hair and grab my backpack, feeling the cumbersome bag hit my shoulders once more. Of course our teachers had assigned three times the amount of normal assignments, preceding the upcoming finals of these next few weeks.

When I arrive to the living room, Matthew and Marilla are seated on the couch. Their formal position confuses me, considering they're usually off to work at this time.

"Have a seat, please," Marilla motions.

I slowly slouch onto the chair next to them.

"What's up?" I ask warily.

Marilla glances at Matthew as if to say tell her. He takes a deep breath and says, "So, this Gilbert Blythe fellow."

Really, now? Are they really going to talk about this now at 6:30 am in the morning? Out of all the time they could have asked?

"What about him?" I ask.

"You've been dating for awhile, yes?" He continues.

"Yeah."

"He's a nice boy, right?"

"Yeah."

"Good student?"

"Yeah."

Marilla rolls her eyes and takes over. "Matthew and I have been talking and we would like to meet him. The sooner the better."

"O-okay, when?" I reply nervously.

"Invite him sometime this week. I'll make lasagna for dinner."

"I don't know if he can, he's pretty busy."

"You may not hang out with him again until I get to meet him myself. I'm surprised I haven't yet," she says pointedly.

"He gives me rides to school, you see him every morning," I justify.

"That's not what I mean and you know it."

"Okay, I will ask him," I give in.

They both smile simultaneously and I quickly stand up, needing to leave this awkward atmosphere now.

"Well, I gotta go, bye!"

"Have a great day at school!" Matthew shouts as I rush out the front door and into the chilly December air.

The drive to school feels lonesome without Gilbert next to me. It feels like it's been a month without him, when in reality it's barely been 7 days. Never in my life have I felt a connection so strong that it physically pains me to be without them, but here I am.

As soon as I shut my locker, I make my way towards Diana and Ruby at the end of the hallway.

"Hey guys!" I smile, glad to see their beautiful faces after all this time.
