Love Bites Back

Chapter 12

I heard the knocking again. I turned and immediately thought to check the patio door. I ran to it and I saw Riker, not near the door, but sitting next to the pool playing with the ring on his finger. I got out into the pouring rain and slowly walked towards him.

"Riker?"

When he looked up, my heart broke into a million more pieces.

Riker looked as if he was bawling his eyes out and there was blood dripping from his mouth. His bottom lip quivered, "I-I made a mistake. I messed up real bad."

"R-Riker, what happened? What did you do?" I asked kneeling down beside him.

He flinched backwards, "Don't come near me, I'll hurt you too."

"Riker, I just want to know what happened. Please tell me." I said as the rain continued to fall on us, but I didn't care. He stayed silent and looked down. I sighed and stood up, holding my hand out. He looked at it and looked at me, "Come on Riker, let's get inside and get you cleaned up. I know you're freezing." He finally took it and we walked in the house.

After giving him some dry clothes he left at my house and cleaning him off, we were in the living room as he stayed silent. "Riker, please just tell me what happened. I can't help if I don't know."

"Rydel told me about you leaving after what I did and it broke me. I went on a rampage and killed some random teen in the woods that wouldn't leave some girl alone. The look on her face afterwards......." He put his head in his hands and turned away from me, "Kristen, your dad was right. All I am is a blood sucking monster!"

I got up and hugged him from behind, putting my head near his neck. Tears started streaming down my face. "Riker, you are not a monster. You realize what you did was help a girl, now you could've done something different but......."

"Kristen, I killed someone! I took their life!"

"You didn't know what you were doing!" My neck burned so much as he turned to look at me. My hair was up so my neck was noticeable.

"Kristen, my god, what happened to your neck?" He grabbed ahold of it gently and next thing I know, it all goes black................. ..................................................................................

Riker P.O.V.

I grabbed ahold of Kristen's limb body as she fainted. I laid her on the couch and examined her neck. There were two marks parallel from each other and it looked like she was bit. But instead of holes, they looked more like fresh bruises. I did the only thing I could do...........I called Elisa.

Kristen P.O.V

I woke up on my couch and the first thing I thought of was to check on Ryder. I got up, but stopped when I heard voices outside the front door.

"What the hell happened Riker? Did you bite her?" I heard Elisa.

"What?! No! I would never do that do her. I'm telling you I came here, we talked, she fainted, then I noticed the holes in her neck."

I heard Elisa sigh, "Let me check it out again. I might know what it is." I hurried up and jumped onto the couch, pretending to be asleep. I heard them come in and I could feel them near me.

"I'm going to get Ryder and feed him." Riker said and I heard him run up the stairs. I felt someone lightly touch my neck which must of been Elisa. After a while she started mumbling to herself.

"Can't believe I'm doing this even though what I know about her. But, I guess she wasn't in the wrong. And Riker does love her. Wait a minute........" Before she said anything else, I heard Ryder's giggling voice as Riker came down the stairs. "Riker come over here."
