Jay’s POV
As Scott went through each rule (tortuously slowly), the rest of us were stifling yawns and heads kept nodding off. I know that we were supposed to listen, but we’ve gone through it so many times (seventy times, to be exact). Next to me, Sameul had managed to doze off and was snoring loudly. I nudged him by the sides to wake him up. If Scott sees that he is asleep, he would throw a fit, not just at the punk, but at the rest of us as well.
Samuel sat up abruptly, having woken up by my nudges, making a short snort as he did. “Huh? What I missed?” he asked groggily.
“Scott isn’t done with the rules yet,” I hissed at him.
(“Rule number five, each reprensentative is transported . . .” Kris droned in the background.)
Samuel groaned, slapping his forehead with his palm in pure disbelief. “And I thought I slept through the whole thing already!” he moaned.
“Wake me up when he does,” Desmond whispered and closed his eyes.
“Tough luck. I’ve got things to do and sitting here listening to something I’ve heard for seventy times is seriously a waste of time,” Blake muttered, sighing. He looked out of the window, tuning Scott’s voice out.
“What, is Scott only at Rule Number Five?” Chad complained, his eyes widening in horror. “And there are thirteen rules! That means that’s . . . erm . . .” He held out his fingers and began to count but all he got was a blank expression on his face.
“Seven more rules to go,” I sighed, doing the math for him.
“I knew that,” he replied sheepishly.
“Sure.”
He muttered something unintelligent under his breath. Scott’s voice was still moaning on somewhere in the background, oblivious to the fact that all of us were not even listening to him and that we had tuned him out the moment he said, “Rule Number One.”
