Darcy’s POV
The guy, Jay, seemed to be like a friendly person. He told me that he’d been travelling around the world and knew how to speak several languages, showing off some examples. He was funny and he was cool. Plus, he was also very cute. If Heather was here, she’d like him too.
In fact, I enjoyed talking to him that I was sad when I had to go back to school since lunch was nearly over.
Jay smiled as he walked to me school. What a sweet guy. We stopped by at the entrance. “Anyway, I hope I can see you again,” he told me genuinely. “I like talking to you. You’re funny and interesting.”
I blushed. “No, I’m not.”
“You are.”
I smiled shyly, touched by the stranger’s kind words. “Well, my school ends at two. Why don’t we meet up at the coffee shop again?” I suggested, trying my best to sound casual.
His eyes lit up brightly and I nodded. “I’ll see you at two, then,” he said sweetly. “It was nice to meet you, Darcy.”
Reluctantly I walked inside the building, ignoring the whispers around me that was stirring up by people who had seen the two of us. All I could think about was what a perfect guy Jay is.
Perfect for Heather.
She needs someone who’s funny, who’ll make her laugh, who is kind and considerate and someone who’s good-looking. Jay was all. He could be good for her.
Jay’s POV
I went back to the coffee shop and saw a ‘help wanted’ sign. Since I don’t have anything else to do while Darcy would be in school, I decided to ask about the job offer. After a few minutes, I got the job.
I smiled to myself. I could earn a few cash and take her out on a few dates, have her falling over for me and hopefully get in her pants to win the game. As I wandered around the streets, waiting for Darcy’s school to let out, I began to plan out my strategy.
I smiled to myself, remembering the way Darcy had laughed at my jokes, smiled warmly at me, and how she seemed to feel comfortable around me even though I was just a stranger to her.
At this rate, if I continue to get to know her better and be a ‘close’ friend, maybe I can also get her to fall in love with me. If only I had the power to make anyone fall for me instead of teleportation.
As I strolled down the streets, I felt my watch buzzing and knew that Scott was calling me from home. I don’t understand why he bothered to. I mean, there’s an invisible camera following me around, right? So wouldn’t he see the updates?
“Yes, Scott?” I asked as I answered the call.
“So, Darcy,” he said.
I nodded, beaming. “Scott, I have a plan. I won’t let you down. I’ll win the Game for you before the other person can.”
“Yeah, okay, but don’t get too carried away —” Scott started to say.
I checked my watch. “Oh, it’s almost two. I’m supposed to meet up with Darcy at the coffee shop now.”
“Jay —”
“Later!” I winked at him before I switched off the watch and walked back to the coffee shop. By the time I reached there, I heard the faint school bell going off, indicating the end of the day. I smiled. I was on time.
When I saw a familiar female figure from a distance, I broke into a bigger smile. Good, she was here.
Time to continue the mission.
