Jimin’s eyes widened in disbelief, hearing the familiar voice cut through the room like a knife. His heart pounded in his chest as he slowly turned around.
“Kkuk… Jungkook?” he stammered, his throat tightening. He never expected to see him here, not like this.
Jungkook stood a few feet away, his expression dark and cold. The warmth that usually radiated from him was gone. His fists were clenched, his jaw tight. “Yes,” Jungkook spat, “your ex-boyfriend is here. I can’t believe what I’m seeing. I thought you were different. But you’re the same. Exactly the same, cheater.” he hissed, his voice laced with bitterness.
Jungkook’s eyes flickered to the woman sitting next to Jimin, her hand lightly resting on his shoulder. It made Jungkook’s stomach churn. He hated how casually she stroked Jimin’s hair, the tenderness in her touch. It was too intimate, too much. The sight of someone else giving Jimin the love and care he thought was his to give alone was unbearable.
The anger boiling inside Jungkook became almost too much to control. He hated it—hated the way she looked at Jimin, how she smiled at him with a warmth Jungkook once believed was only meant for him.
“Hey kid, watch your mouth!” Micha growled, her voice sharp as she glared at the unfamiliar boy who had just screamed in front of her.
But Jungkook didn’t care about Micha’s words. His eyes were locked on Jimin, searching for any sign of acknowledgment. But Jimin… Jimin didn’t look back at him. His gaze was distant, unfocused.
“Noona, let’s go,” Jimin said softly, reaching out and taking Micha’s hand. His grip was firm but trembling slightly. He didn’t want to stay, didn’t want to talk, or explain himself to Jungkook. Most of all, he wanted to avoid Jungkook knowing the truth about his condition.
Without waiting for Micha to reply, Jimin turned, his steps cautious but purposeful. Jungkook stood frozen, watching as they walked away, a wave of realization and helplessness washing over him.
Micha stood up, gently taking Jimin’s hand as she prepared to lead him past Jungkook. But Jungkook moved quicker. In an instant, he grabbed Jimin’s wrist, yanking him harshly, causing Jimin to stumble right into his arms.
“Hey!” Micha gasped, startled by the force with which Jungkook pulled Jimin.
But Jungkook barely heard her. His focus was solely on the man in his arms. "You need to explain," Jungkook demanded, his voice thick with a mix of anger and desperation. This was why he came. He had spent every single day thinking, wondering what went wrong, why Jimin wanted a breakup.
Jungkook’s grip on Jimin tightened, the heat of his frustration mixing with something softer—something he tried to push aside but couldn’t ignore. He missed him. No matter how furious he was, part of him still yearned for Jimin, and that ache gnawed at him more than his anger.
Jimin tensed under Jungkook’s touch, but he didn’t pull away. He didn’t say a word. He couldn’t see the pain in Jungkook’s eyes, but he could feel it in the trembling hand that held him.
After a moment of watching them, Micha finally understood. The man holding Jimin wasn’t just anyone—he was Jimin’s lover. The weight of the emotions in the air made her step back, giving them space.
Jimin, though motionless in Jungkook’s arms, felt the familiar warmth of his embrace. His hands twitched, wanting desperately to wrap around Jungkook, to let himself fall into the comfort of what they once had. But he couldn’t. He shouldn’t.
For nearly five minutes, they stood there, locked in a heavy silence, the world around them forgotten. Then, with a sharp inhale, Jimin gently but firmly pushed Jungkook away. His voice was steady, though his heart ached with every word.
