"Libby, wait up!." someone called from behind me I turned around in silence to see who it was.

It was Zack one of my best guy friends. I waited for him to catch up.

"Whats up Zack?" I asked him as we walked down the long hallway to biology.

"Nothing much just thought you'd like someone to talk to..." he said not looking at me when he spoke.

"What do you mean?" I questioned. He constantly looked at the posters on the walls that stated: RAVENCLAW HIGH DANCE THIS FRIDAY GET YOUR TICKETS NOW... I thought that maybe he would ask me out.

I couldn't believe he was having difficulty, we have known each other since kindergarten.

"I was wondering... well if, if you don't want to you don't have to, some- someone has probably already asked you but um-" I cut him off right there.

"Zack if your talking about the dance no one has asked me yet, and I would go with you if you asked, if that is what you were talking about" I shrugged smiling at him. He smiled, then I smirked back we were at class now.

"Liberty, will you go to the dance with me?" he said. I smiled so wide i thought the ends of my mouth would fall off.

"Of course I will Zack!" I answered the thing that surprised me most is when we hugged it felt different...

After biology I had lunch and Zack had gym so we said our good byes and parted ways. When I reached the cafe my five best friends had already saved me a seat along with a couple guys I thought of as sort of close friends, Ashely, Gabriella, Tammy, Kade, and Ella.  

The guys I did know at the table were Chase, Johnny, Danny, Andrew and then two guys I didn't know. This is odd. I thought. I walked over to the table and sat down next to Chase and Gabby(Gabriella) and across from Ash(Ashely).

"Whats up babes?" Chase asked. Of course all the guys laughed.

"Hit on me one more time Chase and  your best friend will be gone!" I said glaring at him.

"whacha mean chicka? Zack wouldn't dump me for the world. I'm to close of a friend." He said and glared right back.

"Well he might take my side, you know seeing that he is taking me to the dance this Friday!" when I said these words I knew my battle was won.

"Wait one dang second. Zack   is    taking   you   to   the  dance?" he said slowly as though the first time I stated this I was speaking anything but English.

I nodded.

"Libbs your kidding." he stated instead of asking. That was the first time since we started high school that he called me my nickname Libbs instead of babes.

And we are all Juniors.

"No I'm not and if you don't believe me ask him-" i motioned to the cafe door, Zack as cute as i have every seen him was walking in and sat down between Chase and I.

"Bro, is it true are you taking Liberty to the dance?" asked Chase. Zack smiled and put his arm around me. I felt so safe... like nothing in the world could hurt me.

"Yes, she just couldn't say no. And its not like I could just take back a promise can I Chase?" he said with a warm smile. chase shook his head with a frown on his face and left the table one of the new guys followed him out to see if he was alright.

For about twenty minutes I stared at the door wondering if Chase was going to come back. But just then the new guy came back and had no luck getting him to come back.That's when I just remembered there were two other guys at the table.

"Ella?" I said to get her to listen to me she was talking to one of them as though he were foreign.

"Yes Libbs?" she said her eyes wide with excitement.

"Who are the new additions to the crew here?" I asked.

"oh I am sorry they have been asking about you to but with the whole Chase thing... Well anyway this is Seamus and Shamus they are transfers from Ireland." she said staring at them with pride.

"Oh. well nice to meet you Seamus and Shamus, come on Ash, Zack." I said nodding to the both of them we made our way out to the hallway.

And what we saw shocked us.

Chase was lying on the floor...

Dead.

"OH MY GOSH!" screamed Ashely bending down to Chases knifed body.

"Someone killed him, Zack what are we going to do-" I looked over to see Zack trying helplessly to preform CPR. I knelt down and pulled him off Chase's bleeding body.

"Zack! Listen to me, go get the nurse the principle someone!" when I said, with those  words Zack rushed off.

I hoped with all my heart that the bell would not ring soon as I held a weeping Ashley in my bloody arms.

So much blood. so much blood. I kept thinking my eyes focused  the dead body and my hands that were covered in blood.

Then what I least wished would've happened my brother Toby came trotting down the hallway. When he saw a dead body on the floor he broke into a run.

"Liberty!!! what has happened" he asked wiping a tear off my face and examining the body and then took Ashely out of my arms and into his.

They have been going out for a year they are deeply in love.

The smell of blood was so overwhelming that I couldn't get the words out that Chase had been killed.

But Toby seemed to understand he didn't ask me again.

What seemed like hours after I sent him but probably only ten minutes or so Zack came back with nurse Zutter and Principle Neatherbary.

They asked us a few questions and then sent us home when Toby and I got home something unbelievable was waiting there for us.
