Chapter 22- Cult Rising

I woke up to Mrs. Carmody's preaching.

" Christ," I said sitting up, rubbing the back of my head. I turned my head to tee Tyler, the color coming back in his face. " Thanks for taking care of him."

The small group of people that were in front of me stopped talking and looked at me.

" Your welcome dear." Irene ( the old woman) said.

" Don't leave this place. Just give me a few hours and I'll be able to re-write their memories, hopefully it will knock the Christian out of her enough to where she's not sacrificing people."

" I don't think we have a few hours." Ollie said.

" Besides, I doubt that's a great idea." David said.

" It will not take long. It didn't take long to do it to my abusive parents."

" I could quietly gather up some groceries and hide them in one of the checks out booths." Ollie suggested.

" It's your idea, your vehicle." Dan said.

" Didn't you hear what I said?" I asked, trying to stand up, of course falling over, blood starting to leak from the back of my head.

" Rest, you're going to need your energy." Amanda said, sitting me back up, then looked at my open wound.

" Just listen to me-" I started.

" Our best chance is getting out of here," David said as Amanda patched me up. " What you did almost killed you."

" It was worth it, and I would do it again. That's what I do. I save people."

" You can't save everyone. Ollie, go get us some supplies. Be quiet."

" I'll let you know when I'm done."

" I'll help you." Amanda said, following Ollie.

" That military guy's smoking at the front of the store," Ambros brought up. " If you're still interested in wanting to know what this mist is."

" He was as surprised as us to see those things, he couldn't have known." Dan brought up.

" True." David said.

Tyler's eyes slowly opened and I quickly went over to him. " Easy, save you your strength."

" No reason in saying that, I can't move." He said, smirking.

" You scared me." I admitted.

" I don't know what happened... I-"

" It's fine. Were leaving the supermarket."

Tyler's breathing began to slow, his eyes closing again.

" Expiation!" Everyone began to yell.

" I hid them in the loading dock." Ollie said coming up to us, followed by Amanda.

" Were leaving in the morning, rest up." David said, then sat down by his sleeping sun.

I laid down beside Tyler and exhaled as the craving for blood worsened.
