A few days later was my mom’s birthday.
Happy birthday to you..
Claps surrounded the house after mom blew her candles.
“Happy birthday!” Everyone greeted.
The house was filled with mixed conversations of the people whom I am related to and my mom’s friends.
I locked myself inside my room.
I wasn’t feeling the mingling vibe. I knew I shouldn’t be doing this ‘cause I know this would disappoint my mom or make her upset, but everything seemed so fragile right now.
“I guess there really is no forever huh?” I said to myself.
Knock knock knock. “Brei?”
I looked at the door, “Who is it?” I asked.
“It’s me, Reese.”
I hurried to the door and unlocked it, “ Reese!?” I was so happy to see her.
“Can we talk?” She asked gently.
I just missed my best friend so much that I just can’t think of anything else but, “Yes.” I replied and grabbed her to my room.
“I just wanted to tell you that..” She waited for me to look back a her, and I did.
“What?”
“I’m so sorry for everything Brei, you know I can’t live without you and you know you’re like the fire fighter to my monsterous fire.”
I walked towards her and hugged her. She’s my best friend, I’ll forgive her anyway.
“A box of chocolates would be nice too.” I winked at her.
“Oh shut up.” Then we both laughed.
We talked for hours and laughed just like what we used to do.
“That was hilarious.” Reese was catching her breath.
We were silent for a moment.
“How’s West?” Reese asked out of a sudden.
“What?” I didn’t know what to answer her.
“How are you doing with West?”
“We’re over, Reese.” I looked down.
