That Summer Day

Chapter 19

Zane-Chan

   Kawaii Chan and Zane were walking back to their little spot.

"What does Garroth mean by the display, Zane-Kun?"

"Oh, you'll find out later."

"But I want to know now!"

"Nope. It's a surprise."

   Kawaii Chan was dejected; she wanted to know.

"Hey, don't be so sad. I promise you'll have the greatest surprise yet!"

"Okay." 

   The two returned to their spot and rested. Kawaii Chan took out some sandwiches, she made and offered Zane one. Zane asked if she made this on her own and she nodded. He took a bite of the sandwich.

"Wow, this is quite nice actually."

"Really?"

"Yeah. When did you make these?"

"Back home, I wrapped them plastic so they would not turn rotten by the time we reach here."

"You are quite the chef, Kawaii Chan."

   Both them sat under the shade and ate their sandwiches. Kawaii Chan was getting bored, so she started creating a sandcastle from the nearby sand. When she was finished, she showed Zane who burst out laughing.

"Stop laughing!" 

  Her sandcastle was literally a pile of sand on top of each other with a stick on top.

After he caught his breath, he said, "C'mon, I'll make one with you."

  Zane at beside Kawaii Chan and they started building a sandcastle. This time, they created an actual one with tall towers, tiny windows, a door and a mini makeshift flag on top. Kawaii Chan was impressed and complimented Zane on his building skills. That was when she thought of a great idea. Kawaii Chan said that they could make a small lake surrounding the castle. She started drawing out the circular hole around the sandcastle. Then she went to get some water.

"Hey, use this. It'll help." Zane said and handed her a sandy bottle that he discovered in the sand.

"Thanks!"

   Kawaii Chan filled the bottle with water and poured it inside. After lots of runs, the hole was filled, and they created the ultimate sandcastle. Kawaii Chan cheered, she was so happy to get her sandcastle done. Zane smiled at the sight. He loved seeing his girlfriend happy.

Garrence

  Like Kawaii Chan, Laurence was dying to know what the display was. The two had no clue that there would be a fireworks display later. Garroth leads Laurence to a stall nearby. The guy at the stand was roasting marshmallows.

"Two please," Garroth said.

"Whoa! Roasted marshmallows! How'd did you know I like these and they sell these here?"

"I'm your boyfriend; I'm supposed to know everything about you. I found out that they apparently sell these here so I thought that I'd let you have some. To be honest, I was quite surprised that they sell these sort of things here."

  When the guy finished roasting two sticks of marshmallows, Laurance immediately took his and started eating it. 

"This is so nice! You're the best Garroth!"

  The two ate their marshmallows as they took a walk around the beach. As they wandered around, they saw some kids playing a game of football. At first, they watched them play. Then, Laurance joined in and started playing with them.
