The Kindness of Strangers

Freya and I go into one of the small cabins, with Josh, Vincent, Marcel, and a couple of other werewolves. As Josh walks over to me and gives me a small comforting smile I give him an even smaller one back. Once he reaches me, he puts an arm around my shoulders. "Are you ok?" Josh asks.

I force a bigger smile to my face, and reply, "Yah, I'm fine."

He gives me a "really" look, "I know when you're lying, I practically raised you."

I nod my head, and say losing the smile, "How am I suppose to feel when my aunt just died?"

Josh also loses his smile too, and says, "I just want to help."

"I know, and I appreciate it," I say with a sigh.

As Josh was about to say something, Hope comes speed walking in. She quickly grabs my forearm, forcing me to move towards the door. I say a quick thanks to Josh, as I'm pulled through the doorway. Hope pulls me outside, and says with new aspiration in her voice, "I figured out a way for my dad to be able to come back to New Orleans." My eyes widen, excited for her. "I need your help with my plan though."

I nod, once Freya joins us, "What do you need me to do?" I instantly jump onto the plan, wanting to help Hope, so she can at least have one parent.

"I'm going to take the power back," Hope says. As the words hit my ears, my smile falters.

"Hope," I say, worry growing in my mind, "this could be really dangerous. That's a lot of power for one person to have, wasn't that the whole reason why your family took the power from you?"

"I know, but I'm a Mikaelson witch. And if I have to take the power back so my family can be together, then I'll do it," she says with confidence. I nod slightly, understanding why she wants to do this. But also thinking the perfect end result she has in mind may be clouding her better judgment.

After a moment of trying to read my unreadable facial expressions, she asks me, "Are you in?" All I can think about is how dangerous this could be, but also if Hope has a chance to see her father, I have to at least help her.

I take a deep breath. "And go against my best friends...never. I'm in," I say with a small smile.

Hope gives me a smile in return, as Freya says, "We need you to find Klaus' body."

My eyebrows scrunch together, before I ask, "Why?"

Hope answers, "I put a spell on him, as he left. He should unconscious somewhere in these woods, we just need you to find him."

"I could probably find him since his scent would be fresh," I say, "Let's just hope he didn't vamp speed anywhere to quickly."

Both Hope and Freya nod, glad that I'm willing to help. Freya says, "We have to move fast because we can't have all their bodies together too long without the whole of New Orleans to go down before we finish."

I nod, "I'll go out and find him then." As I tap into my werewolf side, I instantly pick up on Klaus' scent. "I'll call you when I find him, and I'll share my location," I say, holding up my phone walking away. "Meet me there with the car?" I ask, and Freya nods in response. I then turn around, and I quickly turn, leaving out of the cabin. Once my shoes hit the dirt, I start to sprint through the woods.

As I pick up speed, the trees and bushes all mesh into green and brown blur. I follow the scent deep through the woods, the trees growing denser and there is less moonlight able to reach me. I then come out to a clearing of a road. I see a car on the side of the road, and Klaus' body laying next to it. I think to myself, "Well, at least he didn't hit anyone when he fell unconscious." I share my location with Hope. I text, "I found him."
