Once we enter, I get to meet all Connor's friends, they all say choice words about the school I attend but I brush them off. Connor mouths sorries throughout the entire conversation. But soon everyone moves to the dance floor as music comes blaring through the speakers. Even though I'm dancing, I keep my phone near me, so that if someone texts me I can reach them. Of course, this doesn't go unnoticed by Connor or his friends.

As Connor comes back with drinks in hand, as we are taking a break from the dance floor. I smile, and say, "Thanks."

"No problem," he says. I then check my phone to only see a new text message from Lizzie, so I decide I'm in the clear. Once I look up, Connor asks, "Are you one of those girls who's glued to their phone?"

I laugh, "You know I'm not, it's just if someone needs to reach me."

"What is so important that you have to check your phone every five minutes? What is your follower count on Instagram dropping," he asks sarcastically, knowing I don't care about social media.

I playfully slap his arm, and I say, "My family is just going through a tough time, and if one of them calls then I want to be there for them."

He nods, and then says with a smile, "Well, your phone is going to stay here, because this is the first slow song they have played."

I smile, trying to think of an excuse to bring my phone. He gives me a look, and I roll my eyes with a laugh, "Fine, I'll leave it here."

He then smiles and stands up. He says with an awful British accent, "Then would you do me the honor, and dance with me?"

I smile, and say with a slightly better, but still awful British accent, "It would be my honor."

I take his arm, and we both take to the dance floor. As we start to dance, I listen in on my phone. I hear it buzzing, but no calls so I think it's just Lizzie again. I block it out and put my full attention on Connor. As we dance it feels like a lifetime, but it's over in a second. We both walk back to our table and sit down. I hear my phone buzzing against the table but ignore it.

"Are you thirsty? Do you want me to grab you another drink?" Connor asks, referring to my empty cup.

"Yah, thanks," I say with a smile. When he walks away from the table, I look at my phone. I see that I have 15 messages and 4 missed calls from Freya, 3 messages from Josie, 87 messages from Lizzie. I quickly open my phone and check the first contact that pops up: Josie.

I read the long text message, "Hey, Freya just came into mine and Lizzie's room asking where you were. I told her nothing, but it was Lizzie who told her you aren't at school, but she said nothing about the dance."

I then flip to Freya's frantic messages, "Where are you? I need you to talk to Hope. I think she's going to do something she regrets." My screen then shifts, as Freya's name pops up calling me. I quickly answer.

I hear Freya say, with urgency obvious in her voice, "Where are you?"

"I'm at Mystic Falls High school," I say, slightly worried now.

"I'm coming now, I'll be there in five," Freya then hangs up, before I can answer.

Just then Connor comes back to the table, and he sees my face of confusion. He instantly asks, "Is everything ok?"

I nod, "I just have to go."

"Now?" he asks.

"Yah," I say, "Family emergency." He nods understandably.

He says, as I quickly grab my bag, "Well do you want me to drive you back?"

I say giving him a smile, "Someone's actually coming to get me right now."

I start to walk out the gym doors, and once I'm in the hallway I feel an arm pull me back. I slightly stubble backward, as I turn around. I look to see Connor, "Before you leave, isn't it like a dance tradition to kiss once I drop you off?"

I smile, "Maybe."

"Well, since I'm not dropping you off..." He says as he leans in. His lips contact with mine. It's short but sweet before we pull away.

I then smile and look down, as I pull a piece of hair behind my ear. "I'll see you later, Connor."

"Yah, see you later," he says with a smile.

As I walk out of the door, I see Freya's car parked right outside the school. I quickly get inside, and I turn to Freya with her eyebrows raised in a parental way. I then say, "What?"

As she starts to drive, she asks "So you were at a dance?"

Trying to change the subject, I ask, "Aren't there more pressing matters to talk about right now? Like Hope?"

Freya nods, thankfully letting the subject go, "So the people who kidnapped Hayley, offered a deal where if Hope makes her werewolf side dormant, they'll release her mother. So Hope wants to go through with it, but it's really painful and Klaus won't let her do it."

"Wow, men telling women what to do with there bodies," I mumble barely audible, rolling my eyes, "Shocker."

Freya asks, not hearing me, "What?"

I quickly reply, "Nothing."

Once we get back to the Salvatore School, I go straight to my room. Wanting to find anything that could point to where Hope is going. When I open the door, I see some of Hope's dresser drawers open, and all contents of said drawer gone.
