Chapter 4 – from the floor to your eyes

The books were spread across the floor at my feet, and white papers with notes were spread in between them. I sighted and kneeled down, trying to get the papers out of the walkway. A few footprints had already appeared on my notes.

Why did these things always had to happen to me..

Suddenly another pair of hands was trying to stack the books and collect the papers.

Carefully I looked up, meeting his eyes.

The boy startled me again. His eyes were bright blue, and he had blond hair, with black roots. It was pushed up in a quiff.

His teeth were covered by white braces, and somehow I recognized him.

Crap, I thought by myself while the puzzle pieces fell together.

It’s Niall Horan. One direction’s Niall Horan.

My breathing speeded up, but I tried to hide it, by grabbing the books that surrounded my feet.

‘I’m so sorry’ he said again, while we both got up. He was holding a view of my books while I tried to get a hold on the rest. I nodded, looking down at my feet. The bright white shoes he was wearing caught my attention.

Supra’s.

Well, at least he had good taste.

‘It’s okay’ I said looking up again.

His blue eyes were locked into mine and he nodded towards something behind me. A small smile played around his lips.

‘You play guitar?’.

I realized the guitar case was still swung over my shoulder and I nodded.

‘Yeah, ever since I was 6’.

Niall nodded smiling. ‘Me to’ he said and then lifted his arms.

Of course he did. And of course I knew.

‘I should probable go. They’re waiting for me’ he said.

I nodded and lowered my arm. Smiling he carefully placed the notes and books on the one’s I already had in my hands.

‘I’m really sorry about your notes’ he said again, plucking his shirt.

Was he nervous? No way. Not around me. Right?

‘It’s okay. There drafts so’ I said, assuring him with a small smile.

Niall nodded again and got a water bottle from the floor.

‘I’ll.. see you around’ he said before heading off into the music wing.

I nodded, stunned and frozen in place.

This couldn’t be true. Did I just actually meet Niall Horan.

I closed my eyes for a second, then shaking my head. When I opened them again, the stack of books and messed up notes were placed in my hands, the way he left them just a moment ago. A little smile played around my mouth, while I started to make my way towards the exit.

I was just in time to get the bus home. Half a minute later and it would’ve been gone. Still smiling I sat down on the bench in the back, placing my books next to me.
