Chapter 22 – Surprise Call

“Julianna Anderson. Answer that damn phone right now before I throw it out of this house” a voice yelled loudly, making me groan. An annoying sound rang through the room, but I was too tired to spend any attention or time on it. It was probably somewhere near noon, but I hadn’t bothered to come out of bed. I hadn’t even woken up properly.

Groggily I opened one eye, glancing around at the lightly lid room. Thank god I remembered to close the blinds, I thought, closing my eye again. My clothes were scattered around the room, where I had dropped them last night, my bag on the floor, shoes with it and my phone.. I didn’t know where my phone was.

As soon as I came home last night, I went straight up to bed, dropping everything on the floor of my room before flopping down onto my huge comfortable bed. Somewhere far away I heard my mom yell for being late, but I was already halfway to dreamland, not caring the slightest.

“JULIANNA. NOW”

My head snapped up a bit, as I glanced around the room again, seeing a light shine from my nightstand.

Hey, my phone.,

That’s when I realized where that awfully annoying sound was coming from. My hand quickly grabbed the phone, unlocked it and pressed it against my ear, not bothering to check who it was.

“What?” I questioned, my voice more groggily then I expected.

“Jules?” a male voice asked, and suddenly I was more awake than ever.

“Niall” I smiled surprised, pushing my body up against the headboard.

“You okay?” Niall asked, sounding slightly worried.

“Yeah, yeah. I’m okay” I said, before yawning loudly. Niall’s laughter rang through my ears.

“I woke ya, didn’t I?” he chuckled. I chuckled as well, shaking my head.

“No, my mom’s yelling did that for you”.

“Right” Niall smiled softly, making me chuckle once again. I tiredly rubbed my eyes, the excitement of hearing Niall’s voice slowly dying down, but not fading completely, surfacing the tiredness.

“So, why did you call?” I asked, curiosity taking over.

“I.. uh.. I wanted to know if yah wanted to hang out this afternoon. I had fun last night, so..” Niall said, stuttering lightly.

A major smile took over my face.

“I had fun too” I admitted.

“Good” Niall said relieved.

Just as I was about to respond, my bedroom door croaked open, revealing my brothers tired face. He narrowed his eyes at me as I held the phone against my ears, before pointing towards my bed. I nodded quickly, focusing my attention back on the conversation with Niall.

“And… I’d like to hang out, yeah” I said, feeling my cheeks heat up.

“Great” Niall said, his smile evident in his voice. Jake gave me a weird look as he crawled onto the bed, laying down next to me with his head propped up. I shook my head, brushing it off.

“Well, I thought we could grab a coffee, maybe hang out at the apartment. You can meet the lads if you want” He said, the mention of his friends making him sound even more excited.

I chuckled again, but the idea of seeing Niall was just what I needed.

A Saturday at the Anderson house meant everybody home. Mom would race around the house, cleaning up and yelling at me as much as she could. Dad would, like any other day, be locked up in his office, only coming out to pee, eat and drink or complain to me about school. Thomas would sometimes have soccer matches, which I couldn’t be happier about. It meant that he, my mom and sometimes Jake would be gone for a big part of the day, giving me more freedom to do whatever I wanted. Jake would occasionally be here, depending if his friends occupied his time or school was kicking his butt. He came home at least 1 weekend every month, so that was at least one person I didn’t need to worry about.
