Chapter 17

Kailee's POV

I woke up when I hear someone knocking. I jumped out of bed, not caring if I'm in my pajamas. I walked to the front door and opened it. I saw some kid with a duffel bag and it said Ellington Ratliff on it. He made it early? "Um.... did I get the wrong address?" He asked embarrassed. "Not if your Ratliff." I joked. He looked confused,not knowing who I was, but walked in anyway. I decided to prank him. We walked into the living room and I locked the door. "I guess you fell into my trap. This is a look alike house. Hope you like being kidnapped." I smirked. He screamed and Mark came downstairs, in his pajamas. "What is it? Who's hurt?" He asked frantically. I laughed my butt off when Ratliff glared at me. "Who is she anyway?" He asked curious. "I'm Kailee Lynch, apparently." I smiled and jumped up and down on the couch, next to him. "You adopted?" He asked. "Yep!" Mark replied. "So, Kailee, about.... the thing yesterday?" Mark looked at me. I shook my head. "Ratliff's here. We are gonna have to wait." I told him. He looked relieved. "Good, I didn't want to die to you today." He chuckled. I rolled my eyes. "I wouldn't kill you, I wouldn't even hurt you, maybe a threat though." I smirked at him too. He laughed. "Well, I'll get the boys up, bye!" Mark said and walked up stairs. Ratliff had a confused look on his face. "None of your business, okay?" I said. He nodded, even though he was still curious. I'll have o keep an eye on him. "I have to do something. You can watch some TV for now." I said and headed upstairs. I walked in and it on and found my best friend's Skype. I had made an account a few days ago when I got here. I clicked call and waited. She answered. "Hello?" She asked. "I got adopted!" I smiled. "Kailee? I haven't seen you in 7 years! How ya doin?" She asked me. "I've been better. The hunters are still after me." I sighed. "That's alright. You can take them." She said. "I hope so Sadi." I answered. "So... how is the pack?" I asked. "We are alright. Once you left, we were kinda lost, but Nick is the new Alpha!" She beamed. "That's great! I'm proud of him." I smiled. "Does you family know?" She asked. "Yeah. All thanks to those hunters. I had to expose myself to save them. Their friend, Ellington, or as they call him, Ratliff, is here and I just hope they don't show up or he doesn't find out." I sighed. Sadi nodded. "Rough life. Can't you just leave?" She asked me."Seriously? I just got a family and even if I did leave, the hunters would still use them against me because they know I still care about them." I told her. "I guess your right. Do you want me to visit?" she asked. "That would be great. I'll give you the address and you can visit anytime!" I told her. She smiled and waved bye. I did too and then the call ended. Oh how I wish I was normal.

Ratliff's POV

I decided to see if I could get information on what Kailee and Mark were talking about if I followed her. It was weird. Mark tells me everything too. I listened through her door and heard her skype someone. "Hello?" A girl on the other end asked. "I got adopted!" Kailed said.. "Kailee? I haven't seen you in 7 years! How ya doin?" The other girl asked Kailee. "I've been better. The hunters are still after me." Kailee sighed. "That's alright. You can take them." The girl said. "I hope so Sadi." Kailee answered. "So... how is the pack?" Kailee asked. "We are alright. Once you left, we were kinda lost, but Nick is the new Alpha!" Sadi beamed. "That's great! I'm proud of him." Kailee said. "Does your family know?" Sadi asked. "Yeah. All thanks to those hunters. I had to expose myself to save them. I walked back downstairs and sat on the couch. What was going on? I'm not sure, but now I know they know Kailee's secret and I will find out too.
