"Doctor.." I whisper, scared and unsure about what I just witnessed.
"Did you see the tattoo he had?" I hear his voice echo through the halls, and slowly nod, remembering the one he ran through on the stairs.
"Yeah," I mumble. "two lines, with the word REACHED under them."
I turn to look at him, with a concerned look on his face.
"What?" I ask him, and he shakes his head.
"Is there something you're not telling me, Alona?"
"It's Eva. And kinda sorta yes." I tell him about the staircase incident, and his eyes go huge, as I back up.
"You're scaring me." I say plainly, and he shrugs.
"That's not a first. Anyways, the tattoo. It didn't say REACHED. It said CAUGHT."
My mind stops for half a second, and suddenly bursts into action, exploding all sorts of ideas.
"So the lines, they weren't just weird hipster things, they were... tally marks! And the figure I saw before on the stairs, that had REACHED on it. He was from the future. But for Ella, she showed me with the painting. How come she didn't have anything on her shoulder? Wait, she did. She was wearing a long sleeve shirt. But that isn't the point. The point is, why are they taking all these people and using them for that reason, then dropping them into time?" I gasp, everything fitting together. "Oh. Oh, Oh, Oh! Their doing something slick! It happened with Aurora too! She unscrambled the word case fast and simple. But she isn't gone. They're using her. And she probably doesn't even know it. Oh my god. How come I'm the only one getting these messages? Wait, because-"
"They're trying to tell you something!" The Doctor yells, finally catching up. He jumps and runs over to me, putting his hands on my head and quickly kissing my forehead. "You, are brilliant! Alona, Alona, Alona. Why couldn't I have met you earlier?!" I grin, as The Doctor claps his hands. "Oh! But here's a thing. Why hasn't the angel in there left yet?"
I shrug, and The Doctor smiles, as I widen my eyes, instantly realizing what he's going to do.
"No, no, no. No!" I protest, but it's too late. The Doctor grasps the doorknob, and twists it.
"Oh God!" I yell, and run out of eyesight, waiting for The Doctor's okay.
But I don't hear it.
My heart skips a beat, and I wonder if maybe he blinked. But The Doctor wasn't that stupid as to blink. Was he?
"Doctor?" I shout out, expecting a reply.
But I don't get one.
"Doctor!?" I screech, praying for a response.
As soon as I don't hear a response, I sprint over to wear he was, expecting to find an angel just waiting to catch me.
But instead, I see the janitor door wide open, and The Doctor's back facing me, completely still.
"D- Doctor?" I whisper, trembling.
He doesn't answer, and I slowly walk over to him, my arms shaking, covered in goose bumps. I was almost sure that I would see dead bodies laying around, blood covered and all that.
As I slowly creep up to whatever The Doctor was staring at, I look at his emotionless face, the only thing out of place being his eyes, glazed with fear.
I turn my head slowly to look at the closet, and what it carries.
But what I don't see terrifies me.
Nothing out of the ordinary.
What would you do if you saw that? Well, yeah, probably walk away. Let me rephrase. What would you do if you saw an ordinary closet where a weeping angel once was? Nothing to calm, right?
I back away. How could nothing be there? We were eying the closet the whole time.
Expect when we blinked.
"Give them what they want. This isn't one of your fairy tales." I jump and turn to see The Doctor, his emotionless face once again.
"Who are you?" I say, wanting it to come out like a lion's roar, but that never works out for me.
"Not who. What."
"Yeah, well, that."
"We are the Nightmares."
I shake my head. "What?"
"We are the Nightmares." The Doctor repeats, although I'm positive that it wasn't him anymore.
He starts to walk up to me, and I back away, thanking God that we were in a hallway.
But when one door opens, a man walks over and shuts it closed.
I stumble back, afraid from what he'll do, but positive I won't find out because this hallway seems endless.
Jinx.
As my skilled backwards walking takes a turn, I trip on a can of pop probably thrown by that one boy, and fall on my back, the wind knocked out of me.
I try to breath in, and finally, once I do, I quickly get up, not knowing where The Doctor is.
That's when I feel two hands placed gently on my temples, and cringe.
"Sweet Dreams." The voice that was once The Doctor's says, and I fall into a dark slumber.
