A/N: I thought of this when I was thinking about whether or not a guy liked me because he was always flirting with me during class...you'll see why.
Sarriana's P.O.V
So you know when you like a guy and you're always talking to him during class and you think he likes you back because he's always talking to you and kinda "flirting"? Of course, being the romantic teenage girl you are, you automatically think, "hmmm, he must like me."
But you're not just a teenage girl. You're part of the female species. So obviously, when you're at this event with him and another girl starts talking to him, you just politely say hi and leave him alone.
And this is how I handled it:
As I walked into the math class, I saw Nick. My face broke into a smile and so did his. Until a stunning blonde dropped into the seat next to him and latched onto his arm.
That's when my smile dropped. And when she leaned in to whisper something in his ear, he laughed while I looked away. As if suddenly remembering me, Nick looked my way again. I avoided his eyes and scurried to the seat next to Seth, the school loner.
"Hey," I said, a polite smile in place. At my voice, Seth lifted his head and his hood fell back. Shaking off my astonishment at his surprisingly chiseled face, I continued,"my name is Sarriana but my friends call me Sari."
"Nice to meet you, Sarriana," Seth rumbled out in his deep voice, pointedly using my full name as he shook my hand firmly. At first I frowned, but when I noticed the teasing glint in his eyes, I giggled and settled down. "So why did your parents name you Sarianna?"
Seeing as many people asked this, I smiled wryly and answered,"my dad wanted to name me Sarah but my mom wanted to call me Arianna. Why did your parents name you Seth?"
Shaking his head at my question, he gave an inhaled chuckle. "Well, my real name is Malcolm. But since I was very, ah, uncontrollable as a child, they nicknamed me Seth, after the Egyptian god of chaos."
Tilting my head back and full out laughing, I brushed my bangs out of the way and asked,"can I call you Malcolm? Ya know, since I'm special?"
Angling his head to one side, Seth replied,"well, fine. Sure."
Delighted at making a new friend, I squealed a little and gave him a side hug. As if caught off guard, Seth only gave me an awkward pat on the shoulder and shrugged me off. Leaning back into my seat, I sighed in content, almost forgetting about Nick and the blond next to him. Until I finished pulling out my notebook and pencil and finally looked to the front.
And there I saw Nick's head jsut barely whipping to the front and the blond bombshell leaning back as if burned. Frowning, I leaned back in my chair and sighed.
Looking at me sideways, Seth--I mean Malcom-- asked,"he your boyfriend?"
Without turning, I sighed disappointedly and replied,"I wish. He's just this guy I knew and apparently he's mad at me for making a new friend."
Malcolm was silent for a moment, so I turned to him. And he had a devious smirk on. "How 'bout I help you win getting him?"
Confused, I asked,"what do you mean?"
Malcolm's eyes flickered to the front of the room before he started leaning towards me and whispered in my ear, "jealously can be a serious wake up call."
Smiling, I blushed and leaned my head down. "Okay."
Malcolm leaned back triumphantly and glanced in Nick's direction again. I followed his gaze and saw Nick staring at me with hurt in his eyes.
Noticing this, my heart hardened the slightest bit and I pointedly nodded in the blond next to him's body language. Nick looked at her briefly and nodded resignatedly. He extricated himself from her and moved his chair away a bit before giving me a look that said,"better?"
In response, I turned to Malcolm and asked,"do you like nutella?"
