Andrew's P.O.V

So a year ago, I started dating Manda.

It was like your common popular-guy-meets-nerd-girl story. I thought she was my soulmate. Just seeing her made my heart flutter, and when she smiled, I felt like the world was completely emptied of all things bad. I love her. Or rather, loved.

So I was very confused when Natalia came.

She made me mad and annoyed. She made my blood boil like anything else, and when I was around her, there was always this chemistry between us. When I was at my lowest and Manda wasn't around, Natalia made me feel like I was okay again.

I am torn between two beautiful, kind, nice, girls. But when I really think about it, I know who I'm choosing.

Natalia.

The next day...

"Hey," I said awkwardly, tucking my hands in my jean pockets.

Turning around, er short hair swishing, Manda spun to look at me. "Oh hey Drew!"

She lept up and wrapped me in a warm hug, her hair a rose-smelling cloud. Landing a light kiss on my cheeks, my girlfriend smiled, popping a dimple in her left cheek. Biting her lip, she asked,"Nathan told me you wanted to talk to me about something."

Mentally cursing my quick-mouthed best friend, I cleared my throat and swallowed. "Um, can we talk alone?"

As though reading my mind, Manda frowned and hesitantly replied,"sure...let's go to the art room."

Gently pulling on my hand, Manda lead me into the collage covered walls of the art room.

Closing the door with an almost inaudible click, I saw Manda's shoulders heave as she breathed deeply. Turning around with a tense smile, Manda looked up at me through her dark brunette eyelashes. "What is it?"

Looking at her, my heart broke. I wasn't sure if I could go through with this."It's uhh noth--"

"Don't lie to me" Manda said quietly, looking at the floor.

Taking a deep breath, I continued. "We have to break up." Manda looked up at me, her eyes glazed over with tears. But all it took was a second before she blinked it away. "It's not you," I said, trying to explain. Taking a couple steps colser, I continued,"it's--"

"It's fine," Manda said. She looked at me, to the side, and back. Smiling with tears, Manda continued. "She's good for you."

Blilnking and perplexed, I asked,"wha--who?"

Manda gave me her signature are-you-kidding-me look, one eyebrow cocked with a smirk. "Come on. I know you've been depressed ever since the whole stupid-dad-skipping-out thing. Even I didn't help." As she said this, her voice deflated again.

Watching her, my heart broke all over again. "Look, I didn't mean to hurt you." I reached out my hand, trying to touch her arm.

"Please don't touch me!" Manda cried, lunging to the side and wrapping her arms around herself. Tucking her head against her chest, Manda let a single tear slide down her cheek and collarbone. After a few seconds, during which I leaned back and crossed my arms, Manda looked up again, tossing her hair back.

Giving me a watery smile, she said,"thank you."

Confused, I tilted my head to the side."Why?"

Chuckling a little, Manda flipped her hair again, a common tick of hers. "You made me feel alive. Before I met you, I was lifeless. I was alive, but I wasn't living. It was almost like I was watching a shell of who I was before Klaus." I grimaced with her at the mention of her ex. "You made me feel like I was special, like I was worth someone's attention." Turning back down and letting her hair, form a curtain around her face, Manda let out a quiet sob.

"Oh Manda," I sighed, wrapping her in my arms. She buried her head in my chest, creating a little barrier by using her hands to cover her eyes, Manda sobbed harder than I've ever heard.

Breathing in shakily, she shook and wriggled a little, stepping back more. "Thank you, Andrew Thomas Mitchell Harry Rosher III. You saved me." Leaning up on her toes, Manda gave me one last kiss on the cheek and smile. "I'll see you around."

On her way out the door, Manda passed Natalia. Taking a double look, Manda wiped her eyes again and smiled brightly at Natalia. In return, Natalia gave me a confused glance, and gave Manda a half smile. "It's not what it looks like." Freezing her smile, Manda frowned and added. "Actually, considering I'm crying, there's probably not any confusion..." Shaking it off, Manda continued. "Anyhoo...this man"--she jut a thumb at me--"just broke up with me for you. Better enjoy his time and I swear, if you hurt him, well,"--Manda gave her an eerie smile--"I have friends in the Navy. And Marines. And my brother is his best friend and a special forces agent."

As Natalia listened to the seemingly innocent white-sweater light-blue-jeans girl finish, she stood up from her perch against the doorframe. Tugging on the lapels of her leather jacket, Natalie plled herself up. "Are you threatening me?"

Manda merely smirked and crossed her arms. "No. I'm just explaining the consequences to a certain action."

With that, Manda gave one last flick of her hair and stalked down the hall. But I watched. As she walked past Nathan, he stopped her progress with a light touch of his hand on her arm and when she turned to him, he pulled her in for a hug. Slumping against him a little, Manda visibly relaxed. Seeing that she had a protector, the weight on my chest lessened a little.

Turning back to the case at hand, I  saw that Natalia was still standing against the doorway, arms crossed, studying me.

"Why'd you choose me?"

Sighing, I couldn't come up with an explanation. "I don't know. You make me feel things I've never felt before. You make my blood boil and my heart rate rise."

Nodding a little, Natalia uncorssed her arms and shrugged. "Well, I think we shoud cool it for a little. Your ex is a good person." Tossing her long, straight ponytail behind her back, Natalia gave me one last smirk and left.

Mentally comparing girls, I evaluate my decision. Manda is short and fair-haired, with curves where you would want. Natalia is tall and willowy with a head of dark hair. Manda is bubbly and outgoing. Natalia is mysterious and secretive. Manda is forgiving and caring. Natalia can hold a grudge like no one else. Manda was my first love. Natalia is my soulmate.

Shaking my head, I went to my next class.

Manda's P.O.V

After my breakup with Andrew, I'm leaning against Nathan and we're sitting on a bench in the courtyard. My head was in the clouds and Nathan was rubbing my arm, sending goosebumps up my spine. "Can you stop that?"

Perplexed, Nathan's hand stopped and he looked down at me, creating a slight double chin. "Stop doing what?"

"You rubbing my arm is creating static electricity and giving me goosebumps."

Laughing a little, Nathan wrapped his other arm around me and sighed. "You never fail to amuse me."

Closing my eyes a little, I sighed dreamily and asked. "Can I tell you something?"

I barely felt Nathan nod against the top of my head. "Sure. Anything."

"I liked you before Andrew. But you never noticed me." I felt Andrew stiffen, causing me to look up at him. "What's wrong?"

Feeling my gaze, Andrew instantly relaxed a little. "Nothing. Andrew's watching us."

Lifting my head a little, I saw my recently ex-boyfriend watching us from the door. Giving him a little wave, I let my head drop against Nathan's chest again.
