I woke up early the next morning, as I always did. It would take the girls for almost an hour before they would wake up, so I used the time to take a quick shower and go get something to eat. I tried to avoid the rest of the family the best I could because I was afraid they would find out about my secrets. I couldn't bear the thought about leaving Jordan, so I had to play my part without making anyone suspicious.

When I was making a simple sandwich in the huge kitchen, I heard footsteps coming down the stairs in the entrance hall. I turned to look over my shoulder and saw Mrs. Simmons walking into the kitchen.

"Good morning," she said with a cheery voice. "I'm still not quite used to having you around," she added with a light chuckle while turning on more lights.

"If I'm bothering -" I started to speak, but she waved her hand dismissively.

"Nonsense!" she said with a motherly tone. "You are more than welcome here. I'm just used to be the first one to wake up," she explained.

"But you would tell me if I'm no longer welcome to stay, right?" I asked and grabbed my sandwich.

"I don't think that will become an issue," she said. "I spoke with Jordan last night, and he seemed a lot happier than before he met you."

She gave me a smile before she turned to look at the doorway. Then, she took a few steps towards me and crossed her arms on her chest. "He told me about your new relationship," she spoke with a silent voice. "If you ever hurt him, I will have you killed, all right?"

The dangerous gleam in her eyes was something only a mother could have, especially when her cub was being threatened. I knew she wasn't kidding, but I also knew that there was nothing I could say to convince her completely that I would never hurt her son. The only thing I could do was nod.

"I understand ma'am, and I will never hurt him," I said quietly.

"Good," she said as she had just agreed to a business deal. "How's the paperwork? Are you already regretting your decision to help me?"

"I managed to sort them out yesterday. Now I just need to put them in the right order," I said and bit my teeth into my sandwich. "I'll start with the documents once I get back to work. You'll have them by the end of the day."

The relieved look on her face was heartwarming to see. I had no idea why it was important to have them arranged, but at least it would be easier for her to find the papers she needed. And at that moment, I realized that Jordan wasn't the only one in this house who was a slave for time.

"Every second count, huh?" I said slowly.

"Time is money," Mrs. Simmons sighed. "What you are doing for me now is saving me countless hours. I am really grateful for you."
