It wasn't easy to calm down Jordan this time. He was anxious. He was scared. He was worried.

But most of all, he was mad.

"I am not letting him take you away from me!" Jordan muttered angrily, pacing around his living room with his arms crossed over his chest.

"Honey – calm down. I don't think he'll do anything," I tried to tell him, but he turned to give me an irritated glare.

"I know he won't because I'm not letting him!" he hissed at me, and marched into his kitchen.

I took a deep breath and followed him. "He just reacted like any father would," I told him.

"I can't believe he had the nerve to even get mad at you!" he muttered angrily and marched out of the kitchen just when I stopped next to him. "You've been staying with us for months! Months!"

"Still – it was a shock to him. I mean, we all lied to him for months. This is his home as well," I spoke while following him to the front door that was closed.

It wasn't closed for long, though. Jordan stepped right in front of it and yanked it open.

"If he even tries anything funny, I will..." he trailed off, and before I could even blink, he moved his hand into the opening, looking like he was about to step out. But he stopped. His expression turned timid, and he quickly pulled his hand back.

I held my breath for a couple of seconds after that. I could only stare at him while he stared out of the door, holding his hand against his chest.

Then, he took a shaky breath. "I will not let him take you from me," he said again. "You're not leaving this house without me."

I took a careful step towards him. "You are starting to sound a bit scary," I chuckled nervously – not because of what he said, but because I feared he had crossed his limits.

He turned to look at me. His eyes were wide open, and I could tell he was spooked. I took another step towards him, trying to give him a reassuring smile, while secretly trying not to freak out myself.

"I am not letting him take you away from me," he repeated with a tiny voice.

"I'm not going anywhere," I whispered, and carefully wrapped my arms around him. "Come – we should go to bed now."

He nodded against my shoulder, but when I tried to move, he clung onto my clothes.

"I can't do this without you," he mumbled. "I need you here. I need you to stay with me..."

"And I will," I told him, hugging him tighter. "I'm sure your mom will have him killed if he tries to break us apart. Trust me – you should have seen her face... Even I was too scared to even look at her."
