"Ash, wake up. It's time to go.",I could hear Jeff's voice say.

I peeled my eyes open and slowly sat up. "Where's Storm?",I asked as the little wolf was nowhere to be seen.

"Don't worry, she's with the little girl.",he replied.

I nodded and stretched before fully getting up. I adjusted my glasses which was a bit wonky. I grabbed my backpack and Jeff motioned me to follow him outside. I zipped close the tent and saw that the fire have been extinguished. Fortunately, the corpse had been reduced to ash but unfortunately, it still smelled rather unpleasant.

Jay was dismantling his tent and I assumed the others were already at the car. Before I knew it, Jeff was already starting to dismantle my tent. "Stop daydreaming and help me with this already.",Jeff snapped me out of my trance.

The dirt road was starting to turn into asphalt as we neared the location of the stronghold. Specks of water was starting to fall from the sky as the clouds took on a darker shade. Storm was sleeping on my lap as usual and the humans were sleeping as well.

I sighed as I leaned my head back. Finally, this will soon be over after this and we can live in peace.

10 minutes later......

A large steel gate became visible as we drove closer. It look like one of those doors you see on supermarkets that slide open. "Hey humans, wake up. We're here."

The grandmother immediately got up and shook the little girl awake. "Okay guys, be ready for anything. We don't know if these people tolerate zombies. So keep a low profile.",Andrew said quietly, so quietly that only us zombies could hear it.

The tires screeched as the car came to a complete stop. "Who goes there!",a voice shouted from behind the gate.

"Okay, who's wants to go first?",I asked to no one in particular.

No one responded.

"Really no one?",I pinched the bridge of my nose,"Fine, I'll go. What great friends I have."

I pet Storm on the head before passing him to Jeff. I swung open the car door and stepped out. I took a deep breath and the smell of more than dozens of humans blasted in my face. My eyes flashed a darker shade of red before returning to its usual light glow.

"We mean no harm, we're here to drop off two survivors!"

I could hear mumbles and whispers but weren't quite able to know what they were about. The gate let out a mechanic sound before slowly opening. I raised my hand and made a thumb up gesture.

The others quickly got out and the humans stood in front of us. The gate fully opened to reveal a dozen of armed guards and a man that looked to be the head of the guards.

"Greetings survivors, please come in.",the man welcomed.

"Sorry but as we've stated previously, we're only here to drop these two off. We aren't interested in coming inside nor staying in the stronghold.",Andrew politely declined.

As if on cue, the two humans stepped forward and the man let them pass. When they were gone, he turned to us before drawing out his gun towards us.

Bang!

I immediately glanced at the others to see who had gotten shot. My heart dropped once I saw who it was. Jeff...

He clutched his torso in pain and snarled at the man. The man smirked maliciously at us before shouting.

"Kill these zombies!"
