"Please tell me you're joking."

"No, I'm not. Think about it, with them gone, we're not being restraint anymore. We can finally stay in the house and not outside.",I persuaded.

"I think that's quite a good idea.",Jay said.

"I second that.",Mark piped in.

"Me too.",Jeff said, looking at me with a 'if this goes wrong, I'm blaming you' look.

"Fine.",he reluctantly agreed.

"Great, let's get packing!"

I looked up from the list and towards Jeff. "Hey Jeff, you packed the fuel cans yet?"

"Yep."

I ticked the last chore on the list and set it aside. "We're ready to go."

Jay nodded and started up the car. It sputtered a bit before speeding off. I looked down at the little wolf sitting on my lap, watching the trees go by through the window.

At the corner of my eye, I noticed the little girl staring at Storm with fascination. I was amused at the sight and had unknowingly asked,"You wanna pet her?"

The girl seemed startled by the sudden question but nodded her head excitedly. She reached out her hand and rubbed Storm's fluffy head in awe. "She's fluffy isn't she?"

"Y-Yeah.",she replied timidly.

"How long does it take to get there?",the grandmother asked all of a sudden.

It's definitely obvious that she's scared that we might her and the little girl. We all can smell the fear she was emitting. "It's going to take about a day or two. We've picked out certain spots to camp out. If you're too scared to sleep in a tent outside, you better rest in the car while you can."

She nodded and immediately leaned her head on to the window. She closed her eyes and started to fall asleep. I turned my attention to the little girl. "You should sleep too."

It was night by the time we arrived at our first checkpoint. The ride was pretty boring to say the least. The humans slept the entire way to one of our checkpoints. Right now, we're just roasting a deer that Andrew hunted earlier for the humans to eat.

"Well how long are we going to stay here for?",the old grandmother asked.

"A couple hours at most. Unlike you, we're fine with sleeping in tents. But since me and Jay have slept, so we're keeping watch. So don't try anything funny.",I warned.

"We wouldn't think of doing such a thing.",she reassured with a shudder.

"Good then. Now, c'mon let's set up those tents."

15 minutes later......

"Goodnight y'all.",Mark said before going into his tent.

The others were already in theirs and the humans are sitting in front of the fire, eating the roasted deer. I was sitting on one of the foldable chairs further from the crackling fire with Storm on my lap while Jay was doing a perimeter check.

The trees started to disappear as we drove onto a clearing which was surprisingly filled with tulips of all colors. I marveled at the various tulips as we passed them.

Seven hours later......

We arrived at our second and last checkpoint which happened to be a small cave. We got out of the car and I could instantly recognize a familiar scent. I grabbed my crowbar and readied it in my right hand.

"Stay here, there's a nightstalker in that cave.",I said before dashing into the cave.

I lowered my glasses so it hung loosely around my neck. I dropped into a low crouch and inhaled deeply before letting out an scream. The other nighstalker retaliated with another scream and I spotted a pair of glowing red eyes staring into me.

I snarled at her and slowly approached her. She growled and did the same. When she was close enough, I swung my crowbar towards her head and it hit with a loud crack. Looks like, I might've crushed her skull.

She stumbled back and I took the chance to slash her. She dropped to the ground with a thud. Wait, how am I supposed to get rid of the body without the humans seeing it.

An idea sprung into my mind and I immediately put it into action. I dragged the body to the center of the cave and take out a lighter from my pocket. I lit the corpse on fire and sniffed the air. Blerghh, that smells horrible but the humans might not smell it as much.

"All clear!"
