I sit up slowly, a mix of anger and shock in my chest. "How you get my number?" I whisper, glancing at Ally's sleeping form. "Your mom," the other person replies.

I raise my eyebrows, not all that surprised that the woman would do some wild shit like this. I don't even wanna know why, to be honest. 'Cause I don't fucking care.

I chuckle humorlessly, "Sounds like Cleo." I shake my head, "Why the fuck you callin' me, Madison? Especially at this time."

"Are you back in Miami?" I pull my phone away from my ear, staring at it. Was she fucking serious?

"That ain't the point. Why are you callin' me?" I ask with venom in my voice. I hear a bit of shuffling and a soft sigh. "There's not really a reas-,"

"A'ight, then. Bye," I go to hang up, but I hear her protest. I roll my eyes, "What?!" I raise my voice enough not to wake my baby girl.

"Um, firstly, happy belated birthday," she offers pathetically. I don't say anything, just wanna hear her embarrass herself.

Like she embarrassed me.

"Also, I, um, just wanted to say that... I miss you," I laugh darkly.

"Wait, no, I didn't mean it like that. We're both in relationships, obviously."

"Then whatchu mean?" I was already over this conversation. "I missed us before. Back when we were friends," her tone was soft and seemed genuine.

But I saw through that shit.

"I'm sure you do."

"Pebs-,"

"Nah, shawty. You did that to us by not listening to me. You accused me like everyone else did. Hell, you're the reason some of the girls' fans and many others don't trust me. I fucking loved you, Madison," I say bitterly, shaking my head as I felt tears well in my eyes.

I hate that this girl still had that effect on me, but I belong to Ally.

"I know and I'm sorry," she says in a pleading tone. I scoff, "Keep that weak ass apology. Delete my number and don't try to contact me no more." I hang up before I give her the chance to speak.

I glance back at Ally, relieved that she's still fast asleep. I turn to face her, about to lie back down when the hall light turns on.

A few moments later and a familiar silhouette appears in front of Ally's opened bedroom door. "Kid?" I call out. I watch as she nods, looking behind her before stepping into the room.

"You good, Pebs?" She whispers.

I shake my head with a sigh. "Wanna talk about it?"

"Yeah, let's go downstairs, though," I say, standing up. She turns to leave and soon I'm joined with her in the illuminated hallway.

We descend the stairs and went into the living room. I sit on the couch I usually slept on and she sat across from me.

"What's goin' on?" She asked, putting her elbows on her knees and rubbing her hands together. I copy her position, running a hand through my hair.

"Madison just called me, man," I say. Her eyebrows bunch in the middle and I give her a quick rundown of our relationship, breakup, then the phone call five minutes ago.

She sits back, "Oh, wow." Her tone was sympathetic. I nod in agreement, "I don't need no more of this drama in my life, bruh."

"I feel you," she responds with a nod.
