I ran up to David, who was on patrol, even though we had good walls. Well, there were some faults here and there, but all in all, it was pretty safe.
"David!" I called out. He slowly turned around. "Do you have any clothes?" I asked.
"Why?" He looked at me, up and down. "You look... Okay." He replied. I furrowed my brows.
"No, it's just that-" I shook my head in frustration. "Do you?" I asked again. David sighed, rolling his eyes and turning back.
"Fine. Follow me." He started walking slowly. I followed.

"Here. Knock yourself out." He opened a closet full of clothes, some in neat piles, and some strewn around the place. I looked around and spotted some jeans. They looked like they were in great condition apart from the other clothes. I quickly grabbed them and examined them. They were a bit dirty, but other than that, clean.
Now, for a shirt. I dug around in the clothes, sometimes touching ones with blood all over them. Who would even want to wear bloody clothes?
After digging around for a while, I only managed to grab a white, dirty t-shirt that was a bit too big for me, but I could probably tuck them into my pants. There. I got everything.
I quickly grabbed my things and left the closet. I closed the door behind me, looking around at the house I was in. It was still furnished, with a painting of a family on the wall. I looked at in sadness. I wish I could've apologized for what their house turned into. A mess in the middle of an infected city.

I walked into the building that I was stationed in, making my way to my room. It was kind of nice having it all to myself even though it wasn't that big.
I got dressed, feeling pleased with my new outfit. I looked down at my shoes. Did I really want to get rid of them.
"Y/n?" I heard someone say from the doorway. I looked up. It was the soldier that asked if I wanted to get Jessica's body with her. She was holding a jacket and boots.
"Oh, sorry. I was just-" I sighed, walking over. "I'm sorry. I had to show my boyfriend around. We haven't seen each other in years and-"
"No need for a sad story." She laughed. She slowly outstretched her arm that had the jacket wrapped around it. "Here, her jacket. It was the only thing in good condition aside from the boots. Thought that you'd might want to wear it since it's starting to get cold." I nodded, taking it.
"Thanks." I looked at the boots. I remember being jealous of Jess because of her boots, even though other soldiers had them too. Something about them being clean 24/7 and being cared for just drawed me towards them. "And those boots... Are you going to take them?" I asked. She looked down and shook her head.
"Oh, no way! I was going to-" she paused. "You can have them. You look like you need them more." She muttered. I took them, smiling. "I'll be going." She walked off.
I marveled at the boots. They looked new. I sat down on an armchair and changed shoes. It's been a while since I've tied shoes.
I stood up. The shoes were a size bigger, but I guess it's better to have big shoes than small ones. I grabbed the jacket. It was made out of black denim and had a logo on the back. It was faded, so I couldn't really see what it was.
