My tired legs carried me along the dense forest, trying to outrun the sun before it was too late. Richmond wasn't far away, well, last time I checked. But that was before we got separated.

I didn't mind being on my own, to be honest. I work better, fight better and move quicker, but I needed to help out Javi save Richmond from Joan. I could do it on my own, but Joan has so many guards around her at all times, that it's almost impossible to touch her without one pointing a gun at you like you're the bad guy.

I looked up at the sky. It was a baby blue with a few clouds. The sun was barely up in the center, shying away just at the tree's branches. I sighed, looking forward. Just keep walking.

I stopped at the old buildings leading to Richmond's gates. I took a deep breath.  They're gonna let me in, right? I mean, I did nothing wrong.

I slowly made my way through the streets, staying alert. Although this place was cleared out a long time ago, I still don't trust it. As I crept through, a voice rang from inside the walls, loud enough to be heard outside. Joan.

I started to pick up my pace, trying to listen to what Joan was saying. I suddenly heard gasps that could've been heard for miles. I straightened up, starting to run now. I couldn't have been gone for THAT long for a possible hanging, right?

I stopped, catching myself in front of the gate. It was bare, with nobody guarding it.

"Shit..." I muttered to myself, inspecting the gate. I don't know any 'secret buttons' that could lead me inside, and I'm pretty sure that would draw attention towards me. I kept looking. It didn't look safe to climb, but there were some loose plates that looked strong enough to be stepped on. I shook that idea away. I probably weighed too much.

There was no where to go. I started to give up. Someone would die, probably David or Javi, and I wouldn't be there to possibly save them. I turned away, starting to walk back through the town. I might as well leave for now and come back later.

"Hey!" I froze, my eyes wide open. I've been caught. I didn't turn around. "Wait, Y/n?" A wave of shock went through my body.

Mike.

I turned around with a small, soft smile. He could help me get in, right?

"Hey, Mike!" I said back. I cleared my throat. "Mind helping me get in?" I asked. Mike furrowed his brows, looking around for a bit. He sighed, nodding his head.

"Sure, I guess. But we have to do it quickly. David is getting hung." Another wave of shock went through my body. I felt like I couldn't breath. David? Getting hung? Well, he did shoot someone, but...

"Alright." I looked at the wall again. How the hell do I do this?

Mike slipped away from the wall, taking a while to get down. I crossed my arms. David was going to get hung...

That thought couldn't leave my head. The person that helped me get through all of this is going to die if I don't act quick.

A high-pitched noise came from the left side of the wall. I looked over, jumping a bit. Mike appeared through the small crack, motioning me to come over.

Relief came over me. I quickly ran over. Mike looked to his left nervously. I crawled through.

"Okay, you need to go. Now. I think they heard me lift this thing up.

"Alright. Thanks." I thanked before I ran off towards the town square. Whoever was looking over the walls wasn't good at it, but it saved my ass this time.

I finally made it to the hanging. Everyone was there. I stayed in the back, trying to blend in with everyone. I looked up at the stage.

Tripp and Ava were kneeled beside David. I furrowed my brows. What the hell were they doing up there?

"Now, Javi, I've decided to let YOU pick who should live." Joan smirked, keeping her eyes on him. The crowd got quiet.

A few silent seconds passed with no answer. The soldier raised his gun behind Javi's head, his finger on the trigger. Javi sighed.

"Ava. I'm saving Ava." He replied. Ava? I mean, I didn't know Tripp that well, but Ava?

"Wow, there's the backstabbing Javi I know!" Tripp shouted. I looked down at the ground, shaking my head. I guess it was Javi's choice.

A gunshot went off. I looked up just in time to see Ava's body go limp and fall over. I took a step back in surprise.

"No! I said SAVE Ava!" Javi said. Joan laughed. Rage started to build up inside of me. Of course, she's a liar. Why trust her with this decision?

I quickly made my way through the crowd, lightly pushing my way through everyone. I stopped behind Javi, looking up at Joan. As Joan spoke to Javi, she spotted me. She eyes widened.

"Ah, Y/n! I see that you've decided to join us!" She said. Javi turned around with a surprised look on his face.

"Javi..." I muttered, furrowing my brows in worry.

"Bring her up here." She ordered the soldiers. Javi quickly grabbed my arm,  dragging me away from an soldier.

"Don't you touch her!" He said, taking out his gun. He pushed me away as he pointed the gun at Joan. "And fuck you, Joan!"

Joan fell to the floor as one of Javi's bullets hit her head. The crowd gasped as another shot ripped through the air, barely missing Javi.

"Y/n, go-"

A sharp pain shot through my head before falling to the ground.
