"Hey, Kate." David whispered to Kate's now conscious body. Kate smiled weakly.

"David." She weakly replied. Gabe smiled.

"Kate! Y/n is here!" Gabe said in excitement. David took a step back as he looked back at me. I walked up to Kate, my hands in my pockets.

"How are you?" I asked. Kate sighed.

"Better, I guess." She looked at my arm, then back at me. "I can't believe you're... Here." I nodded.

"How's Javi?" I asked, waiting for a positive answer. It was silent for a long time before David spoke up.

"Speaking of Javi... Let's go ahead and see him in quarantine. How things are going." David suggested. I took a deep breath.

"Yeah. Let's go, I guess." I tried to put on a serious face. I haven't seen him in YEARS and I just decided to run to Gabe... I don't regret it, but...

"Y/n, let's go." David said, pushing me a bit to snap me out of my thoughts.

"They seem fine." One of the soldiers said. I smiled.

"Good." I replied as we walked down a flight of stairs.

"Maybe you can finally say hi to Javi." David said. I nodded.

"Yeah. Probably. It happened so fast that... I didn't know how to react." I sighed. We reached the door that led to the quarantine.

"Y/n." David stepped back and motioned for me to step in front of him. I stepped in front of him, preparing myself.

We opened the door. Javi quickly turned to face me. A huge smile spread across his face.

I ran over and embraced him, nearly knocking him to the ground. I let tears flow down my face from happiness. I dug my face into his shirt.

"You don't know how much I missed you." Javi whispered into my ear.

"I missed you too, Javi." I replied. I pulled my face away, smiling. I looked into his eyes. They looked just like they did the day I met him, even after all of this.

"You're here." I smiled in disbelief.

"I know. And I won't be leaving you anytime soon." He whispered. I planted a kiss on his cheek before pulling away, looking at the two other men he was with.

"Oh, hey." I greeted with a warm smile. They smiled back.

"This is Tripp and Jesus. Tripp and Jesus, this is Y/n, my girlfriend." Javi said. Tripp furrowed his brows.

"Oh, your... Girlfriend? I thought- nevermind. It's nice to meet you." Tripp muttered. I got confused. What did he mean?

I brushed it off. Whatever. I was just happy to see Javi.

"I think you guys are okay." I said. I turned to the soldier. "I think they're good." I assured them. The soldier shook his head.

"Joan has to see them." He replied. I bit the top of my lip.

"Right..." I muttered. David cleared his throat.

"Anyways... I'm going to check up on Gabe." He said, slowly turning back to walk up the stairs.

"Well, I'm sure you're pretty busy, Y/n. I'll leave you to it." Javi smiled. I furrowed my brows.

"What? But I have to show you around once you speak to Joan. Richmond might not look that promising, but it's pretty safe." I responded. Javi looked back at Tripp and Jesus.

"I'll see you after Joan speaks to us." Javi said. I nodded and started to walk towards the door. "Love you." Javi added. I smiled as I opened the door.

I entered the room that Kate was in. I was surprised when I didn't see David or Gabe standing around. Kate was unconscious.

I had so many questions to ask, but I guess I couldn't ask them now. I looked over at the desk across from the medical bed. I walked over as I spotted a pin on it.

Gabe's baseball pin?

I picked it up and examined it. Gabe wouldn't do this, would he? It was probably David being jealous since I got along with Gabe and Mari better than him.

Mari.

I had to tell them at one point. I could just see Javi's face looking at me in disbelief as I told him. David would probably kill me. I'm surprised David hasn't said anything yet about her.

"Y/n...?" I heard someone groan from behind me. I jumped, turning around. It was Kate.

"Kate." I greeted with a small smile. I quickly hid the pin in my palm. "You're... Awake." She sighed.

"Finally, someone I can talk to who isn't a kid or a guy." She joked. I took a step forward.

"How was it?" I asked. She looked at me in confusion. "You know, out there?" I added. Kate turned her head towards the window, taking a short pause.

"Hell." She responded quietly. "To be honest, the scariest things out there are the people, not the muertos." Kate looked back at me, her eyebrows furrowed. "Y/n, when I first saw David, I... Didn't feel anything." She whispered. My eyes widened a bit. I looked around awkwardly.

"I mean... When I saw Javi I was too shocked to say anything too. I just went to Gabe." I responded. She shook her head.

"No, I wasn't shocked, I just felt... Nothing. No love for him or anything. It was like he was someone I talked to once. I don't know how to say it." She laughed. "I probably sound so stupid right now...." She put her hand on her forehead.

"Maybe you just don't love him anymore." I suggested. I cringed. Why would I say that? Kate slowly put her hand down and stared at me.

"Y/n... I think you're right-"

"Now, don't go into the armory without my permission-" David continued. He looked over at me. "Oh, Y/n." Gabe smiled.

"Hey, dad showed me the armory!" He said. I smiled and nodded, looking over at Kate.

"Hey, Gabe, Kate's awake. You should go talk to her." I suggested. Before Gabe could walk off, I stopped him and opened my palm, revealing the pin.

"But dad-" I cut him off, placing the pin in his hand.

"Keep it out of his sight. I think he's jealous." I laughed. Gabe laughed a bit before going over to Kate. David looked at me with a frown, crossing his arms.
