The morning after, no not that kind

The next morning, Diana woke up to her alarm and got ready as usual, not thinking about yesterday's events. She went about her daily morning routine with painful repetitiveness, until she took a step outside.

"HELLO!", she was greeted by an overenthusiastic Kai waiting for her so they could walk to school together. Except for the glaringly obvious fact that,

 he hadn't done his hair.

Also worth mentioning, the fact that he was dead.

As they walked they had a conversation, not about what had happened or how Kai was there, neither of them was touching that with a ten-foot pole.

They talked how they always had, about crap that popped into their heads until they got close to the school and Diana got super nervous.

"Won't everyone freak out when they see you like, this? " she said.

"No, you're the only one who can see me you dingus"

"Hey, it was a fair question, and won't I look weird either way if I'm sitting here talking to myself?"

"Well," he said sheepishly, "people already look at you kinda weird" as he prepared for the only slightly playful punch. "HEY", she said as she gasped and placed a hand on her chest in an offended manner. "I know but we didn't have to acknowledge it!", she said as they both laughed.

Diana walked into school accidentally still wearing her radiant smile and ended up getting stared at anyway. She had shown no emotion in this hell for months, much less smiled and few people noticed but nonetheless, some did. She glanced at Avani in the hallway and gave a slight wave, although her smile had disappeared. Avani gave a pitiful smile and waved back, though when Diana looked in her eyes, she couldn't tell if it was pity or annoyance staring back at her.

During lunchtime, they tried to keep their conversation to a minimum or more just having Diana not talk, but that wasn't working very well considering they had a lot to talk about.

"AND THEN THEY JUST STARTED THROWING PUNCHES! EVERYONE AT THE SOUP STORE DIDN'T KNOW WHAT THE FUCK TO DO" Kai was yelling while Diana tried to contain her laughter and her lunch. "I SWEAR I'VE NEVER SEEN ANYONE GET SO HEATED OVER SOMETHING AS DUMB AS SOUP!". He had been telling her stories all day, trying to get her to laugh, which wasn't very funny or helpful during her English exam. A few times she had to tell him to go bother someone else, but she didn't really want him to leave. After all, this was the most she'd laughed in months, she didn't want it to end, and neither did he.

These best friends had each other again, and everything was right.

And then, they tried to return to the Library, which was a bad decision.
