"PUTTING UP THE SIGNAL," Quila said, hanging a blue cloth in the window, "Get ready."

Three Resistance fighters peeled off to move toward the house, and the stormtroopers opened fire.

Quila cursed under her breath and peered through the scope of her rifle, taking down troopers one by one.

Blasterbolts filled the street, shooting from both sides, as Resistance fighters burst out from their hiding places and started firing on the stormtroopers.

Cassus gave one last glance out the window, catching a glimpse of Kylo Ren's black cloak among the white uniforms. He better not do anything stupid.

As Cassus checked her blaster, the door burst open. A Resistance officer ducked in and slammed the door behind him.

His shoulders heaved, and he flashed a smile. "Hi, I'm Poe. I'm here to get you guys out of here."

The shooting outside lessened as the Resistance fighters ducked back out of the line of fire.

"You better move now," Varis spoke, "We'll cover you."

Cassus turned to Varis and Quila. "I won't forget this."

He slung his blaster down from around his shoulders and gave a nod. "Ib'tuur jatne tuur ash'ad kyr'amur."

Today is a good day for someone else to die.

Cassus grinned. "Yes, it is."

She grabbed Greer by the arm and pulled her to the door by Poe. The pilot frowned. "Where's the other guy?"

"He's not coming."

Poe readied to open the door. "Okay. There's a transport just outside the city. We get to it, and we're free. My people will cover us."

Cassus placed a hand on Greer's arm. "Ready?"

The girl set her face and nodded.

Dameron pushed through the door, and the street erupted with blasterfire again. Two Resistance fighters sprang up by the stairs to stay with the three, and more jumped out to provide cover as they bolted across the street.

Once they were out of the line of fire, they raced between the houses. Poe and a small group of fighters stayed positioned near Cassus and Greer, but Cassus could hear more weaving through the neighborhood. The mechanical voices of stormtroopers echoed from behind, and distant blasterfire told her that they weren't in the clear yet.

They reached an open street, and the first few rebels of their group skidded to a stop. Cassus only heard the whirring of blasters charging before she threw herself behind the nearest building.
